CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Way Cool! Another Oregonian. Been here for about a year. But from 92-96 I went to college here in Oregon. So I have a little under my belt. How about you?

I've been here since 1971. Moved to Salem, and lived here since. I went to WOSC from 1977-1979, U of O from 1979-1981, and finally Willamette U from 1981-1983, with a BA in Fine Arts.
I've traveled quite a bit~ and no states could ever match the beauty of Oregon.
I'm about an hour from the ocean and an hour from the mountains. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Hey all, I have spent most of my life in and around Portland, a native. Only spent 2 1/2 yrs away ( Indiana ) and realised that this is the best place to live, even with all the oddballs. By the way, the liquid sunshine state is an unfair classification of the state, its really only wet in this region of Oregon. Ever been to central O? Anyway, its cool see others from my area here.

that is cool that there are so many oregonians. i love how the weather of OR is so predictable. well it seems that way. I live in East OR and love it!!! The mountain are close and the air is fresh. The only problem is Wind comes whipping through here like crazy.

The Snow was wonderful today! Perfect to play in for the kids! And now the forcast on Yahoo for the Portland area is calling for more snow on through Monday! We have a HUGE snowman in the front yard and a big one in the back . .
Now, what do you all think about the possibility of a Silver Thaw happening?
Anyone here remember one of those?

oh yes with the snow. I'm in north portland and we got about 3-4 inches today. definitely a lot of fun playing with the dogs out in it, i have a husky mix and she LOVES it. as to a silver thaw... No i've never seen one but I know what it is, my mom was telling me about them today. as much as I'd like to see one(they're supposed to be gorgeous) I think I'll keep praying that it doesn't, my family needs to be able to get to work.

Another oregonian here. Born and raised. Thats why I have webbed feet. Right now its cold enough here I am ready for some good old liquid sunshine to come back. I mean I like the snow and all but lets face it us poor soggy Oregonians need rain to be comfortable. And I definetely dont mean the freezing type.

I am in The Dalles, OR where we are being buried in snow. We have about 3 feet on the ground and it is snowing hard at my house as I write this. On top of the snow it is bitter cold, it is 9 degrees at my house. It may have gotten to 11 degrees for a blistering high temp!
