I am in Middleville area... just moved from Grand Rapids... have lived all over Michigan. Flint, U.P., Traverse City... I LOVE Michigan. Love Lake Michigan but think Lake Superior rocks the most.

When I was a boy my father was assigned to K.I. Sawyer, AFB south of Marquette. The base was closed in 1995, but they're trying to redevelop it around an airport on the old base flight line and the housing area. I went back for the first time in 24 years last September and the U.P. is so beautiful - as much or more so than I remembered.

The only unfortunate thing was that I hadn't been paying attention to the weather and dressed for cooler temps (flannel shirts, jeans) when I should have brought t-shirts and shorts.
