Anyone else think Aristotle was an arrogant fool?

Just finished reading nichomachean ethics and was just wondering if anyone else got the impression that Aristotle was an arrogant narcissist. I mean seriously he creates a theory of ethics that puts himself as the epitome of what is good living. At least Plato had the decency to say Socrates was the wisest, not himself.

Sometimes claiming wisdom is hubris, sometimes it's true. *shrug* "Father of modern philosophy" probably suggests the latter.

There is absolutely nothing modern about Aristotle. On the other hand, he was smart as balls. Nichomachean ethics manages to invent a system of ethics without appealing to any sort of moral authority. That means smart as balls.
