  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When I went to the dr this past Tuesday they gave me a bunch of magazines and a couple of books. Well, one of my books has pictures (not drawings, some woman actually let them use her pix) of the baby's head coming out and the umbilical cord hanging out like a tail. I showed them to hubby to prepare him, he almost got sick! :swoon: So now, I'm wondering if he's gonna hold out.

lol! Oh, and they did a pap smear Tues, too, and he could barely handle that! He said it looked painful, and I tried to explain its not, its just weird having two women I don't know sticking utensils and their fingers in me. He still doesn't believe that, but oh well. As long a he survives through this pregnancy and delivery, I'll be happy. I'm sure his wishlist of 8-12 kids has gone down. lol

Well when i went for my scan my H came with me. i was sat there all amazed in nearly crying.

After we can out i asked my H what he thought and he said that he felt sick. I think it was the scanner pushing down on me that did it rather than seeing the baby but we did talk about it and wonder how he was going to get on at the 20wk scan and the birth.

Apparently he is going to stay at the head end during the birth (and i'm going to have my mom on standby outside the room in case he decides that he can't hack it lol)

My hubby was there for the first pap at my first visit, and the doctor and I joked about it with him, so he felt a little more at ease.

He says he will be fine at the delivery, but I think with the emotions and everything he might get a little nervous and apprehensive. But he is a tough cookie, he has had more hospital visits because of injuries than Tim the tool man taylor. (No joke) But he has already stated that he does not want to cut the umbilical cord, he says that freaks him out a little bit. And it doesnt bother me either way, I told him it is up to him. :)

I was concerned about my husband because he doesn't like blood or anything like that. He freaked when they did my pelvics...and couldn't even watch them draw blood. Funny thing though....

When I went into full blown pushing labor, the hospital had TWELVE of us in full blown active labor at the same time...and only 5 nurses! :doh:Hubby had no choice but to hold my legs and be down where the baby was coming out. At first, he turned his head and wouldn't watch but eventually his curiosity got the best of him and he got to watch our son being born. As the tears streamed down his face, he gave me a play-by-play of what was going on... it was one of those experiences that he was so glad he had a part in. I was so proud of him and so amazed that he pulled through...but he did and he didn't even blink. He just about jumped the doctor when he thought he wasn't going to be able to cut the umbilical cord. LOL He did say, however, that if any man ever had fantasies about having two girls at the same time that they should watch someone give birth and get pelvics because it was so NOT attractive!!!^_^

I asked Hubby if he was willing to stay up near my head and he was. Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually feeling a bit squeamish about seeing my brand new infant all covered in childbirth stuff at first. I really don't like blood and body fluids and all that. Maybe I'll just close my eyes till baby is semi-clean;)
You're so not gonna care.....I promise  Oooohh...and they smell so good....I love that newborn smell.....:swoon:

For the birth of my first, I was in full delivery mode. I was gowned, gloved & hair-netted. My wifes Dr. was telling me where I was supposed to put pressure, how to help guide the head out...the whole nine yards. It was a pretty amazing to actually help deliver your own child.

With my second, it all happened so fast that it freaked me out a bit. When the nurse asked if I wanted to hold her, I said no...I think I better sit down first.

well with Robert unfortunately my husband did not make it to the hospital in time for the birth (he walked in as the dr was sewing up the episiotomy...) hopefully all will go well this time arround and he will be able to be there with me. I just want him there to be there... I really wanted him there last time :( he was at work left as soon as I called, but the delivery went really fast...

so far all looks good this time arround... may wind up having a long labor and begging for drugs....

Your hubby will be fine!! Mine can't even stand the mention of the word "period" without getting all teenagish and embarrassed and grossed out. But he was so good, I think their protection for you and wanting to help you out kicks in, my hubby was grossed out by the business that comes out when you push but he stayed down there(i had a foot on his hip and the midwives hip to help push) and he was so great and encouraging!

My DH said that Far worse for him than the mess, etc. was the fact that I had to work so hard and the look on my face during contractions. I laughed when he said that... 'cause I get Quiet when I'm in labor and it's usually not really That much 'work' until I get to transition (which goes really fast for me). ;)

I am a little worried about my husband making it through the birth-he is pretty squeamish, but even if he has to wait outside, that will be okay. I know the moment he sees our baby for the first time he'll forget about all the yucky stuff and go into total dad mode. At least, that's how he is with the dog....
