Do chickens spit.......Don't you just LOVE practicle people?

As for the blood in the meat, you know we are not supposed to consume blood and that is why everything is prepared the way it is (if done correctly). But how are we to know? Jesus said don't ask the butcher. That is faith.....

Won't it be nice when all this is a moot point?

Come Lord Jesus.

I stopped eating eggs and chicken at first, but than it wore off. Same as with the Mod Cow breakout. I can only go so long as a vegetarian....

The most common source of food poisoning in the US is now-fruits and vegetables. If you are in otherwise good health, it is unlikely that you will die as a result but the illnesses are in the millions the hospitalizations in the tens if not hundreds of thousands and the deaths in the thousands.

It is mostly a result of third world countries exporting so much fruits and vegetables here and they are being washed in water that is contaminated. Then the consumer comes along and pops them in their mouth often without even washing much less peeling.

Proper food preparation will go a long ways in protecting you from that food poisoning and would also go a long ways towards protecting you from the chance of contracting bird flu from poultry products. First your exposure is orders of magnitude less than a worker in poultry production. There just isn't much opportunity to move any virus that might survive from the product to your sinus cavities.

Secondly, the H5N1 strain is being monitored very closely. The US just quarantined poultry products from Canada because they found an H5 strain there, even though it isn't H5N1. At the current time, you took a much greater risk today if you took a shower, got in a car, touched a doorknob, scratched your nose, went to see a doctor or someone in a hospital, went to a public place such as a ball game, an airport, or a school, and so on. Some of those things represent a greater risk of dieing of flu, some just of dieing. Everything you do including taking the next breath carries some element of risk. At this time, eating poultry products isn't any significantly more risky than it has been for quite awhile. Currently, the risk of bird flu hasn't changed that to any significant degree.

What is it with the UK and all the freaking disease?! They had the Plague several times in their long history, they've had Mad Cows for as long as I can remember, and now they've got an outbreak of avian flu and newcastle disease! Is it because they're an island?!
But in answer to your question no I'm not particularly concerned. The reason why is 1. I love Chicken and eggs. 2. If I catch avian flu and die...well then that's in the Lords hands and after the fact I will be too! :) 3. Remember SARS? Yeah, the mass epidemic wasn't so massive. Why was it "a mass epidemic"? Because the media inflated it to something it wasn't. This could be a similar situation. I'm just not wigging out yet.
Slainte!

Thanks, Marv, you're right! In California, there was an outbreak of salmanilla, and then lately here in Alabama as well....from the cantalopes!!!!

The next year it was the strawberries!

That is one reason I do not buy from "roadside" truck marts. They were having a hard time containing it because they were not real markets and were movable. Seems workers in veg fields thought it was too far to go back to the potties at the end of the fields......and they had salmanilla already in their system and thus in the urin and th;us on the field and thus in the fruit!

Yuk.....

I grow my own food or buy it from those I know how they grow it. It is really all about being confortable with how your food is being handled before you eat it.
