CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's a pretty sorry thread. I never understand the logic of "X is used by some satanists, so X can only be a satanic symbol" (this has been said about peace signs, pentacles, and now the upside down cross). And of course it contains the usual "This isn't bashing!" nonsense -- I guess if you repeat that enough times you can start to believe it.
But you should be thankful he exposed the Pope's blasphemy for you.

Interesting posts, to say the least! A bent cross? Don't people have enough to do learning about their own religions without spending so much time tearing down someone else's?
Maybe they skipped the part in the bible that says something about "judge not, lest you be judged"

However, this thread is nothing compared to one over on Rapture Ready called "Worship the Queen?"...the first page consists of a poster and one of the administrators putting up huge pictures of the Pope and other catholics bowing to statues of Mary, and then one guy who keeps trying to insert a web link that people can go to to explain it. Then the usual volley of posts about idolatry...someone said "Get thee behind me, Satan" when another poster tried to defend the practice.
And this is just page 1 out of 6!

Sorry, I'll avoid it in future posts. This really does seem to be the best of the Christian boards (that I've seen) as far as acceptance of Catholicism. There are plenty of people who disagree with the Catholic doctrines, but they are fairly polite in their disagreement, and they ask "good faith" questions. And what's more, there are moderators who are very good at stopping posts that get out of hand. Kudos to them.
