Hi, everybody. Reading these posts makes me less homesick.

Lucy, I hope you stop by here and see this. I grew up on Underwood Avenue in Wauwatosa. I don't know what the street looks like these days (I hear the old trees were cut down and saplings planted) but in the early 60s, before an epidemic of Dutch Elm disease, the tree branches intertwined over the street from Warren Avenue north three blocks to Rogers Avenue. In the summer you couldn't see the sky through all those leaves.

Even after twenty years in Florida, when I dream at night, I'm always back my old house in Wauwatosa.

Granite Peak is a great down hill ski area for this area, formally known as Rib Mountain.
They renamed Rib Mountain?? I have been gone a long time! Wonder what else has changed?

Ahhh, home sweet home :)

I don't know where Underwood is but I'll look on a map. Rogers Ave--I lived on Rogers Ave in West Allis. Possibly the same avenue you speak of? Wauwatosa is still a nice place to live. It's citizens have a lot of pride in their little suburb.

Hi sceptical!

The hill is still called Rib Mountain but the ski operation has changed hands and has been renamed Granite Peak along with adding on several new ski runs. This took place 4 years ago.

This picture is probably 2 years old since a couple of ski runs were yet added.

If you've been to Wausau in the past you probably wouldn't recognize the place now. Wausau has been one of the fastest growing small metros in the state with a pop. of 130,000 now and much construction going on. The US 51 beltline in the next few years is going to be totally redone and made into 6 lanes.

I'm new here, and wanted to take a brief moment to say hello to the fellow wisconsinites!

HELLO!

I'm in Janesville, born here. Lived in Lake Mills for a little while, and moved back to Janesville. Loved living in Lake Mills, but have more family in Janesville.

Last night I went to the outdoor theater on Highway 18. They are on the corner of Highway 18 and 89 north of Fort Atkinson. Saw Shrek 2 and Jackie Chan's new adventure "Around the World in 80 Days". I think the outdoor theater is awesome. They've been there for a few years now, something fun for the family in the summer. BTW, perhaps because of the sun going down so late, it was after 1AM when we got out of there. VERY late night for me.

I posted real early(first reply!), and totally forgot about the thread, so I'll go into more detail about where I live and what connections I have :p

I go to school at UW-Whitewater, but over the summer and on weekends I live at my parents' house in Hartland, near Waukesha. I work at the Delafield Home Depot, and as a result, have driven to most of the HD's in the area. My girlfriend(through school) grew up in the LaX area, her parents live in Sparta, and now she works at Timber-Lee Christian Camp in East Troy and at a children's group home in Janesville.

Hi creators_child!

I love outdoor theaters! There's just something about watching a movie with the windows down and the wind blowing in. It's almost feels like camping out!

Wausau lost it's last outdoor theater 2 years ago. In this day and age and being way up here in the north where the season is short, it just isn't profitable anymore...

Welcome to CF!!!

LOL, Stallis, funny how this suburb has it's own feel as it's own city.

My brother lives off of 76st, 1 or 2 blocks from the Fair grounds.

I'm wondering...Do they have any Christian contemporary musicians at Summerfest? Any Gospel at all?
Anyone from Brewcity may reply.

Thank you for the welcome!
Because of profitability and cause I don't get there very often it was easy to drop money at the concessions stand.
In the 3-4 years of its existence,I've only been there two or three times. First time we stayed in the car. This last time I brought my Coleman double seater with the drink holes for the soda. One kid next to me, and the other kids laid on the blanket with pillows in front. Somehow because it got to 52 degrees, they cooperated with each other and shared the blanket. Amazing huh? :D

Cool night air, mosquito repellent, a stray lightning bug, dark skies, wrapped in blankets....it does feel like camping.

This summer I want to take the kids camping but haven't settled on time and place. Last summer I promised and didn't deliver. Oops. I imagine it will be a saturday night, sunday, monday, tuesday weekend trip, but I have to nail it down. I would like a campground with a beach..... possibly if there were a campground on Lake Michigan? Devil's Lake has lots to do.

now she works at Timber-Lee Christian Camp in East Troy
I have a friend I used to work with who worked there last summer (and planned to stay on as long as possible). She just LOVED working at Timber Lee with her new husband). Also, she graduated from UW-Whitewater...

Follow the state map north of Milwaukee, possibly more than a hundred miles. There are two such campgrounds I remember from YMCA summer camp back in the 1960s, Point Beach and Terre Andrae.

Hmm, the website I just checked has a listing for "Kohler-Andrae", and Point Beach is a state forest.

Both Point Beach and Kohler - Andrae look great.

I have spent a some time at Harrington Beach in the past. Just beautiful there! No camping though. The sand at Harrington Beach is so soft!

Point Beach also has a nuclear power plant near there (I found out in my web search). I just love plants and local wildlife. (Kidding).

Is this friend named Jen(nifer), and is her husband named Dave?

Yes it would have

And we would have had the song
It's a small world after all
running around in our heads!

What is everybody doing on the Fourth?

(I haven't decided yet for the Fourth, or for today either. Kids gonna go to their dads ---thus their other grandmas this weekend. I clean the church for part of the day today...then I'm FREE! I could read a book, haha!)

Hi everyone. I just found this website and have been having a good time looking around.

I am in Appleton, WI. My family (husband and, now, 3 children) moved here 2 years ago. We are originally from IL. In fact, I am typing this in IL as we are here visiting for the holiday weekend. We really love Appleton, though, and aside from being too far away from our families, we love the area.

Someone posted near the beginning of this thread that they were still looking for a church in Appleton that "fit". That was posted way back in March, I believe, but if that person is still looking and reads this, let me know, please. We have found the most amazing church that has really changed my life.

Ah yes...the drive in.

I frequent Keno drive-in on sheridan rd in Kenosha. It's a nice break from the movie theaters, and it does give it a "camping" feel. Kinda nice.

As far as summerfest, how was it? I couldn't go. I was too busy with a killer project for the last couple of weeks.

p.s. Any rock climbers here?
