I hope this is in the right place.

Hey, I've been feeling a calling for urban ministry for about a year now. I've wrestled with it up to this point, though, thinking God couldn't possibly use me in it. I didn't really WANT to go into urban ministry, but I always have had a certain passion and interest in the city and its people. I think I've finally accepted it as God's calling. And I know that if it is a call from Him, then it's something I gotta do, and I'm willing to do it, uh...willingly. :p

So my question is, are there any urban ministers out there that'd be willing to talk with me? Answer questions I have, tell me about their lives and ministry, etc. If you would, give me a PM. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

God bless,
Sky

I think urban ministry will be an awesome way to serve God's Kingdom. My girlfriend and I have started something similiar to an urban ministry. This weekend will be the first time that we start. What we are going to be doing is basically going out into the ghetto parts of the city and witnessing to people who need God. We'll also give out free bread and Bibles as well. We've planned on doing it maybe for once a month.

I'll be praying that God will lead you in to the right directions of the ministry.

A great book to read is "God in the Alley" by Greg Paul. Greg is the founder of Sanctuary Ministries, an inner city ministry in Toronto. He ministers to the homeless, drug addicts, alcohol abusers, and others that are running from "toxic religion" encounters. The website is www.sanctuaryministries.on.ca.
