  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any suggestions???

I have been wondering this for a long while and I was wondering why we close our eyes when we do Praise and Worship? I'm not exactly sure why so I would love to hear any suggestions.

Not everyone does close their eyes when they praise God through song, but I personally find that when you close your eyes, you are taking your focus off the visual, physical things around you, and trying to focus on God, and what you are singing to Him. It helps me remember the exhortation "keeping your eyes fixed on the goal, which is Christ Jesus", and helps prevent me from being distracted by things going on around me. I often lead times of singing at church or Christian Union meetings, and I often keep my eyes open, and because I've prayed before hand, I find that I can still focus on God, rather than worrying about what chord comes next, or being distracted by someone in the congregation.

When I close my eyes it pretty much what Stan the man said I'm try to focus on God and kind of listen... it helps me from being distracted... but when I close my eyes I always for some reason visualize Jesus' eyes looking into mine... like he's looking right inside of me... it kind of strange.. but I always welcome it. When I worship though I'm also praying to God so thats another reason I close my eyes.. is cause I'm really praying but worshipping God.
