  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any Scripture referring...

John 15:
1. "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2. "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
3. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
5. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
6. "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.
7. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
8. "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
9. "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
10. "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
11. "These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
12. "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
13. "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
14. "You are My friends if you do what I command you.
15. "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
16. "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
17. "This I command you, that you love one another.

"Love from the center of who you are, don't fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle."
-Romans 12:9-10

Laugh with your happy friends when they're happy; share tears when they're down. Get along with each other; don't be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don't be the great somebody. Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you've got it in you, get along with everybody.
-Romans 12:15-18

basically if you just want to go through and read Romans chapter 12 that'd be good.

Hi Anwar , and all ,

Whenever Scripture is sought on any subject , it's relatively easy to use a concordance , ( which lists all the words of The Bible alphabetically ), by looking up the word(s) which represent the matter in question , and comparing the verses / passages which contain the " key words " , one can behold the Counsel of The Word of God on most every major subject , with ease .

These verses stood out , with your request in mind .

Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
<-----> 1st Timothy 5:1+2

He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. <-----> Proverbs 22:11

Friendship is the foundational relationship for every other ( working ) relationship ; and all other relationships are subject to our Relationship with God through Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit .

When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. <-----> Proverbs 16:7

[ Sometimes it helps to look up antonyms as well as synonyms.]

( Synonym = Similar / Antonym = Opposite )

As in asking what does it take to be a good friend ?

Honesty , Trust , Love , Kindness , Fairness , Tolerance , Patience , etc .

Or asking what makes us / or someone else appear as in the role of an enemy ?

Lies , Treachery , Hate , Cruelty , Unfairness , Intolerance , Impatience , etc.

Often , it helps to define something by what it is like , and also by what it is not like .

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 13:4-7

Charity = Love in Action

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
<-----> 1st John 3:18+19

Let all your things be done with charity. <-----> 1st Corinthians 16:44

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. <-----> Colossians 3:14

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: <-----> 1st Timothy 1:5

Main Entry: char·i·ty
Pronunciation: 'char-&-tE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ties
Etymology: Middle English charite, from Old French charité, from Late Latin caritat-, caritas Christian love, from Latin, dearness, from carus dear; akin to Old Irish carae friend, Sanskrit kAma love
1 : benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity
2 a : generosity and helpfulness especially toward the needy or suffering; also : aid given to those in need b : an institution engaged in relief of the poor c : public provision for the relief of the needy
3 a : a gift for public benevolent purposes b : an institution (as a hospital) founded by such a gift
4 : lenient judgment of others
synonym see MERCY

Once we realize the characteristics of friendship , we can do a more in depth study by doing word searches , ( using our Concordance ), of all the qualities which make up a good friendship .

And each time a word stands out as crucial , we should look into the meaning of that word even further , using comprehensive Dictionaries .

This is what turns our reading into studying .

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. <-----> 2nd Timothy 2:15

With a Strong's Concordance we can even look up the Hebrew and Greek words ( which have been translated into our modern Bibles ) and compare / contemplate their definitions .

And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you ... <-----> 1st Chronicles 12:17

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. <-----> 1st Samuel 18:1

Be sure , there's alot more to be found on the subject .

For God's Word is a veritable " Gold Rush " of knowledge , wisdom , and understanding .

And all who search therein , with good intent , find Great Wealth .

Peace and Joy in Christ's Righteousness !
