  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Any recommendations...?

Well I have not started writing a book yet, but I have several ideas formulating. I try to keep my creative juices flowing at all times. I am more of a non-fiction writer, and would probably be writing a book on either technical info for Christians, i.e. Online Evangelism, Christian Webmastering, etc., or books on Christianity and Christian living. So are there any smaller publishers out there that you are aware of that can print for a low cost. I have my own means of promoting the books, but would need a publisher to work with that is accountable. Any advice would help... Thanks in advance!

First law of writing: money flows TO the writer.

I'd strongly advise you to at least submit to publishers who will pay you instead of the other way around--you'll get better distribution, you'll get editing and quality control, and you'll almost certainly get better money.

Christian nonfiction is a fairly wide open field. I think it's not terribly hard to get published by a good small press. Why not try that route first?

If you are intent on self-publishing, go with a printer and not a "publisher"--make sure that you own the books when they come off the press. (Don't go with iUniverse, PublishAmerica, Vantage House, or similar). It's more work, but it's worth it.

Thanks! That is a good point. Money should flow to the writer. I guess my end goal would be to have my own publishing/printing business for books. I have a lot of friends that are ministers and all of them are planning to, or are in the process of writing a book. I am a believer in multiple flows of income to finance the Kingdom of God, so this would be another river that I believe God wants to use. Thanks for the words of advice.

Anyone else want to add to this?

I'm in a similar situation....I have desire to start my own publishing company as well as assist others...in their publishing needs. There is alot to it as well as His timing...marketing is certainly a key....I'm sure if we search there are alot of Christian based ministries that are willing to help/assist new writers...there has to be some ministry don't think? If anyone knows of any, please let us know...that would be a good place to start.
Blessings, Tamara

I've written a book, and those who have read it think it is quite good. However, getting a publisher or agent to listen is quite the problem. I have had a "vanity" press print me a run just to have some to send out. The issue is getting someone to give a few minutes to read what's been written.

I keep praying that someone will read it and at least give me a look.
