Any recommendations?

Ok here's my deal:
I play drums, but I'm not exactly allowed to play in church because I play a punk style of praise music. So I've been thinking if I could start listening to a little bit more blues, jazz, and maybe rockability and pick up on some of their styles for drumming maybe I could play that in the smaller church setting.
Any recommendations of who to listen to for sweet sounding drums in jazz or blues music?

Start with Art Blakey my favorite drummer of all time or Max Roach or even Quest Love from the Roots

Start by playing brushes instead of sticks. They create a much more peaceful and beautiful sound than sticks.

Jorge Rossy of the Brad Mehldau trio is a good brush drummer.
