  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any other Netflix users getting irate?

It's December.

I've been sitting here, hoping for some quality Christmas movies to watch on my Xbox 360 through Netflix Instant Stream.

The following is my selection through Netflix:

A Christmas Story
A Nightmare Before Christmas
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Elf Bowling: The Movie

and...

Make the Yuletide Gay.

The latter movie is the only film they have added this December for instant stream. Meanwhile classics like It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and even decent modern Christmas tales like Home Alone, The Santa Clause, etc., get the shaft. I'd even take Ernest Saves Christmas at this point. I just checked my Instant Stream list for newly added tonight, and I counted 8 Gay & Lesbian titles, and the only Christmas movie that has been newly added falls within that category.

And I pray that I'm not the only one that has been on the phone with customer service over the lack of Christmas Films. At least the ones that teach some family values.

I'm almost to the point of cancelling my Netflix on the 24th if this isn't rectified. I say we start calling Netflix repeatedly to make sure our voices are heard. Stop shoving the homosexual agenda down our throat and give us Christmas movies. Real ones.

Anyone else with me?

No, not really.

The Instant Stream thing is fairly new, correct? It's going to take a while before they move all the movies over to it. They also need to treat each group of people the same, though I'm sure you believe Christians should be treated above everyone else, especially based on your post complaining about gay and lesbian oriented movies. There are many faith and religion based movies on instant stream as it is as well.

While I'm surprised they haven't gotten to a lot of the Christmas movies for instant stream considering it's Christmas, the only thing you can really do is call them and talk to someone who probably doesn't care and will just forget you even called as soon as they hang up. And you can drop your account if you like and forget about instant streaming movies anymore considering they are pretty much the only reliable service that does it. You'll just be replaced by 10 new accounts, probably by someone who is gay, and the world will go on as normal.

Netflix has a kabillion titles and you guys are worried about not getting new releases right away? Releases that you could rent tonight at Blockbuster or RedBox? Dig a little deeper. Netflix has a ton of great movies that you might even enjoy more than the new releases. That's the beauty of Netflix.

I agree with the poster above who mentioned that it's not the fault of Netflix, but more a fault with the licensing agreements they currently have with the movie studios. They recently resolved a big problem with WB, which I'm hoping leads to more WB movies being available for streaming. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Netflix not only has to work with the studios for what movies they can stream they also have to work with the hosts of the service. Microsoft has their own movie buying marketplace that often times features movie specials for certain events or holidays. If you noticed the XBL dashboard had huge ads for their Christmas movies available for purchase. Grinch, Charlie Brown, Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation were all featured as part of their holiday purchase special and Netflix isn't going to stream for free what Microsoft is selling as a featured product.

Rule of thumb is if you see it on the dashboard it will probably not be something Netflix will offer for streaming download. The only exception I've noticed to the rule are TV shows who's parent company is NBC and TV shows or movies that are available for instant stream on places like Hulu.
