• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We HS our 13 yo. The boy is really bright and on track to graduate high school early. He reads at college freshman level (although not as maturely, naturally). We use a mish-mash of materials and supplements I add, e.g., for American history he is reading BOTH Zinn's A People's History and Marshall's Light and the Glory and critically comparing them (The books contradict on many points and this is a very good thing, in our view).

Our 11 yo has learning and speech disabilities and so is in the nearby good public where the resources well exist.

Our 6 yo is in the same public school as well.

We hope to adopt a girl internationally in the future.

I guess I should say what we do.

T (age 7) is doing second grade Rod and Staff. We are still pretty laid back about it, and she only does 2 subjects a day. I'm trying to work up to more, but she really isn't into it, and I'm just not that demanding. She likes the math most, and understands the concepts of multiplication already, though we haven't worked it yet. She can do problems well ahead of the book, but we still work it to get the facts memorized. She also reads very well.

N (age 4) is doing preschool work in a workbook we got at the store. She is learning her numbers, and will soon start her letters. She doesn't do well with writing yet at all, but her coloring is much improved so I think that will soon follow.

The boys are learning as they go, and A (age 3) is learning how to play games on the computer.

Homeschooled my oldest from 5th grade through the end of highschool. (except for the last half of 8th grade when he went to public school so he could get their official diploma..lol) We used a variety over the years. We had started with Christian Liberty academy, then did some Saxon Math, Some Abeka Science, We eventually found Charlotte Mason and started using more and more living books and doing a nature journal and applying her concepts. Then to finish out highschool we did american school which was a 2 yr program and they give you the diploma in the end.

i plan on homeschooling my next two also, most like doing Charlotte Mason!
