Well, the sound was okay but the lyrics were a problem. The rap culture in general rejected the style because of the numerous artists that were being killed over the east coast/west coast rivalty. Biggie Smalls, Tupac, etc.

You have to realise, that alot of these hardcore "gangstas" were infact suburb dwellers of middle class famlies that went to decent schools. I'm wondering if anyone here has heard 'Prechas in tha hood', it's Christian 'gangsta rap'.

Before I quit listening to secular music, I was real into 2 Pac, Method Man, Ja Rule, Bone Thugs and some others. I never really liked the lyrics, but the beat was what I liked the most. Of course the "realness" of the lyrics never pertained to me since I'm a southern white boy

I love rap. Especially when it's the truth in the lyrics of their life. Tupac spoke the truth of his life. He is my favorite rapper.

I never really liked gansta rap. I just don't think it has a lot of substance. It is abotu the same things that fail to show Christian values.
