  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any one else sick of hearing about nirvana?

I liked Nirvana, still listen to some of their stuff, but I don't think they were equivilant to the Beatles (as much as I don't like the Beatles, either). They were good, but their time has come and gone.

What I AM sick of hearing about are Relient K and Switchfoot. Now THERE'S a subject to gag on.

I think that Nirvana is still mentioned because they were most effective in bringing Grunge to the airwaves. People still talk about Nirvana because they were the last band (IMO) to change popular music. Hair metal was fake, grunge was real. I think it's a shame that Cobain died because of the media hype that still surrounds it. Nirvana never wanted to dominate the music market (read the lyrics to "In Bloom")...it just happened.

"Something in the Way" is a great track. You have to love the line "It's okay to eat fish 'cause they don't have any feelings".
