Hi, I was a Nuclear Machinist's Mate on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt. I have found it pretty rare to find more than 1 or 2 nukes together on the same web forums, so I decided I would see how many were here.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not a Navy nuke, but I have some experience on the USAF side.
Thanks for your work. You guys have it much harder than we typically do. Ship life can be very tough and we really respect what you guys do.

JMandrell, your job sounded very demanding. My old physics teacher from high school, being some kind of nuclear expert, served as a lady officer on an ancient (WWII-era) submarine tender named the Orion. I can't relate to what guys you do, but it happens that my father served in the Soviet Navy, in the Pacific Fleet. His job was servicing nuclear-powered submarines pierside at a naval base called Kamchatsk-Petropavlovsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
