Hey all. I have $200 in GameStop credit and I'm thinking about using it toward a PSP. Anybody else getting it or thinking about getting it?

I was going to get a Nintendo DS because I'd heard it was going online with Animal Crossing and Mario Kart (love those games) but lately I've been drawn to the PSP but I'm still undecided.

Anyone have a DS and care to share what they think about the system?

The only reason I'd go with the PSP is that it can play music. Otherwise, it's going down. Nintendo has always dominated the handheld market and has destroyed 16 other attempts. PSP will go down with the price and be destroyed with DS's better games. :)

3D with a 5 hour battery life and a high price. :p

I have a DS and love it.

The DS can play games that cannot be implemented on any other system.

The PSP is just like other handhelds, only faster.

My money went to the unit that did something new.

The DS and a couple of games will be cheaper than the PSP.

Or, get a plain old Advance SP and a lot of games, and be happy for years.

Gameboy Advance SP all the way! LOL :p

but seriously... I think the PSP is a little too pricey. If you must buy a portable system now, the DS looks good. Otherwise wait a little for the price of PSP to come down.

Have you looked at the Zodiac? It's a Palm and gaming system in one. I thought it's pretty cool. Cheaper than the PSP... and able to play music as well (takes 2 SD cards).

Go with the PSP. I have had mine since December 24, 2004. (Import). The US games just completely blow away the DS's lineup, and it looks like the DS will not have much coming out for a good while (of course this is my opinion). There are a ton of great titles coming out for the PSP in coming months also. I was really excited for the DS but when I got it I was disappointed. The PSP actually has exceeded my expectations. You can play games, watch movies (either UMD or play it off the memory stick), use it as a picture viewer, or use it as an MP3 player. The battery life is over 5 hours on most games. Its usually only 5 hours playing Ridge Racer with full settings (sound, screenbrightness, etc.). It also does not take long to charge...about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get a full charge. Twisted Metal, Metal Gear, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Ridge Racer, and Wipeout are all really fun launch games. It (the PSP) also feels very durable when holding, while my DS felt very cheap and flimsy. All in all, if you have the money get the PSP.

Edit: Oh, also if you have a wireless router, the PSP is online capable already. Twisted Metal, Gretzky NHL, the Soccer game, and the basketball game are all online already. Twisted Metal is really fun to play online. Its almost like an Xbox Live system, but you dont have to pay.

Oh, and another thing the PSP can do is play games off the memory stick. There is already a company making some software that will allow people to make games on the computer and play the game they make on the memory stick (you would need a big memory stick though). Then people can share the games over the internet. That makes for alot of possibilities.

just got the DS , it is very good , much better than an upgraded machine , it has new features that are unique to a handheld console.

The PSP looks good but I think it will suffer from over pricing and aiming at graphic improvement but not the nessasary game creative intuituive improvement ...... in other words it will sell because it has Sony printed on it , not because it is inivitive.......... as the DS is .

I have for many years been a Nintendo fan , sure they have made some mistakes but they still are the most creative I think , I rate the gamecube higher than the PS , but the X-Box Live experience is without doubt the best!

I have a couple of PS2s , three gamecubes , 3 X-boxes a couple of N64 and PS1s ,a dreamcast ., a few gameboys , a couple of NeoGeos , etc..... my fav game is still Goldeneye on the N64.
