  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Any good apologetics links?

Hmmmm... I would only think that something that indeed shows strong evidence for the existence of God would be the only logical place to begin... For me the first proof or quite strong evidence of God is proof through motion.

That is, every thing that has moved has been moved. Somthing had to initiate movement in the first place. What may be called a "Prime Mover" that would necessarily be independent of the movement for which it has caused. I have not brushed up on this at all in the last few years but I believe there are 5 ways through reason that the existance of God can be demonstrated. From the book titled: "College Apologetics" which is an EXCELLENT book for such a purpose! It is available from TAN. http://www.tanbooks.com/index.php/page/shop:flypage/product_id/415/category_id/6/
I cannot recommend this book enough! I have it....err, somwhere..

Other than that there are several other means of which may point to the existance of God, such as:
http://www.intelligentdesignnetwork.org/
http://www.actionbioscience.org/evolution/nhmag.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligent_design
http://skepdic.com/intelligentdesign.html

Hope these might help..

Thanks!

In hindsight, I'm off on my original post about him. He believes in a "god", and believes in an intelligent design.

It's just making that leap to showing him that that "god" is our Father in Heaven! He's also wrestling with the "If God exists as you say he does, why won't He come down and give me a sign? Isn't that something a loving God would do?"

The book: "Colleg Apologetics" establishes the existence of God through reason. But it does not stop there, it also goes on to demonstrate through reason why Christ is His only Son and why the Catholic Church is the One, True Church.

Brilliantly written!

These sites tend to come from a Protestant perspective, but they are really, really good. :)

www.leaderu.com/offices/billcraig/menus/existence.html --Essays on existence of God
www.leaderu.com/offices/billcraig/menus/historical.html --essayson the historicity of the Gospels and why we ought to believe in the God of the Bible
www.tektonics.org --good site to look up issues like supposed contradictions and Biblical inerrancy
www.christian-thinktank.org --has stuff on historicity of Bible, inerreancy, and just some really god devotional stuff.
www.rzim.org --Dr. Ravi Zacharias' site...it is replete with apologetics stuff. Check out his radio broadcasts in particular (I recomend Top 5 Questions from Students and Jesus Among Other Gods)

I don't have any good links.... not for atheism/agnosticism.

However, what I always say is that it scares me that someone could believe in nothing.... that someone could believe, honestly, that all the wonderous creations in the universe are nothing more than a random coming together of molecules and amino acids..... That they somehow intelligently came up with very sophisticated, inter-weaved biological systems by pure chance and circumstance.

To me... that belief is the absurd one. The belief in nothing.... and people who just sit and look at the world, at the immense universe up in the sky that is SO FAR beyond our comprehension, at the beauty and innocence of a baby.... at the complexity of society that men have built, and believe that we did it by a random coming together of matter... it's ridiculous, preposterous, absurd.

Even if not a Christian, I think that any rational human being has to attach him/herself to a system of belief in a higher power, or else assume some pretty amazing things of randomness.

I just found a great site dealing with apologetics. Most of these articles were written by this kid when he was in high school, it is absolutely amazing. This kid is receiving praise from the likes of Peter Kreeft, Marcellino D'Ambrosio, Shawn McElhinney and others.

He has articles dealing with many aspects of apologetics, however if you go this page you will find some articles written by him dealing with atheists.

Also here is Peter Kreeft's website:
