I'm a D&D'er too, but I haven't actually played with a group in a while - I'm pretty much stuck w/ computer RPG's until I find time and a group of people in Jacksonville to play with.onikirimaru777 said:... i have an unusually high advantage being a good cleric that is half celestial. I make him mad cuz i can fly over most of the traps he puts and im immune to fire, electricity, acid, cold and i have a resistance to poison. And im only at level 5
That being said, though, how do you manage to be half-celestial, with flying and all of those immunities? Is that a part of the AD&D 3rd edition?
As far as being a cleric of Christ is concerned, I had a buddy in college do that in a campaign. I understand the good meaning behind it, but it makes me feel uneasy. See, the typical fundamentalist objection to D&D is that where you're doing stuff like spellcasting and using magic, that is essentially witchcraft. My reasoning has always been that D&D is set in an entirely separate fantasy world, and just because my wizard can cast a fireball or do a 'Power Word Death', that doesn't have anything to do with this world. It is just something for fun. Any witchcraft or magic in this world is in opposition to God. Bringing Christ into a D&D campaign tends to blur the separation between the two worlds, and I'd feel funny about magic in the campaign at that point.
What does everybody else think about this? Am I alone in my reservations?
