Everlastinglife. This question was prompted after a bible study I attended on Tuesday night. We all (at the study) found it quite intriguing too! I'm finding the replies I'm getting even more interesting :0) Bless you.

When Jesus died according to Luke 23:43 he went to paradise. Where he freed the saints from Abrahams bossom. Until that day Satan had the keys to hell and there was no heaven for the righteous saints. He then according to 1Peter 3:19 preached unto the spirits in prison. This prison is also known as "Tartarus" reference II Peter 2:4 This is the place where the fallen angels who coinhabited with women before Noah were cast down to and will remain until the Great White Throne Judgement. When they will be cast into the lake of fire "Gehenna" I hope this clears it up.

The part in quotation above is somehwat disturbing. Several times now in CF I have seen statements like this, and I think they reek of a crypto-Nestorianism -- which is tosay, you are separating the divine and human natures of Christ... which is an absolute No-No!!!

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
{Matthew 12:40}

But Jesus was only in the "heart of the Earth" for 2 nights, not 3. Friday night, Saturday night, then he rose again on Sunday. That's only 2 nights. Am I missing something?

He died on the cross and was gone for three days? Does anyone know where He went? or what happened during those days before He rose on the 3rd day?

If you can, please give biblical references to support your statement. Thank you!

LK 23:42-43 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. " Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.

It would seem that his body was put in the tomb and his soul went to paradise

Yes I know where he went.

They put him in a tomb.

End of story.

the shortest and most direct answer to the OP as written in an earlier post.

I agree. Until the resurrection, Jesus was dead in the tomb, decaying like every other dead person.
Yes but what about his soul? And why did he tell the thief he would be with him in paradise that very day?

Act 2:25-31
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
