My hand is up, on the musicians in the house. I recently purchased an electric violin and a fender amp. The violin is a very versatile instrument, it can play anything thing from Mozart, to Cotton Eyed Joe. I like both. And the amp adds a tremendous amount of options a standard acoustic violin cannot offer. I also sing, and play keyboards a bit by ear. But with this instrument, I am teaching myself to read music as well as play by ear. It is like learning a new language, I find it both interesting and therapeutic as well. There is no difference by the way, between a fiddle and a violin. Apart from the strings, gut strings lend warmth, steel core strings are more appropriate for "fiddling". I am more into the fiddling aspect and recently ordered a book from the Appalachians on bowing and other techniques by the old master fiddlers in those mountains. Music is a blessing and a gift from God. I love my fiddle, I named her Scarlet, and I thank God for her every day. Now if I can just nail those bowing techniques!
