I like them but my parents have always had hunting dogs so we've never thought that would work well.My mom has been asking us if we want one though. I don't know anyone around here with kittens, the shelter is like 50 miles from here. Cats have to fight the other wildlife here,I think thats why nobody keeps them around. If I get a cat I'm not letting it out:scratch:

For as long as I can remember, I've always befriended strange cats. It may be a challenge to coax them over for a petting or a scrap of food, but it's always rewarding. Now that I have a kitty of my own, I couldn't be happier.

I adore cats! I grew up with them. But I haven't had a cat since my last one passed away in 1987. I really miss the company of a good cat. It seems like there are always reasons why I can't have a cat. But I have decided that at some point in the future (when I buy a house?), I am going to one of the downtown shelters and will adopt one of the pregnant cats or one of the mother cats with nursing kittens. If the cat has nursing kittens, you have to take them all but you can adopt them if you ask, and if the shelter policy allows it. Then I will find awesome homes for most of the kittens (I think adoption process should be fairly thorough, to weed out bad kitty-parents!) and will keep momma and like 2 of her kittens. I can think of nothing sweeter than to help a pregnant momma cat and instantly have a bonded cat-family. My husband thinks I'm nuts though. ^_^ I just love cats and have thought it would be neat to do something like this when I finally do get to have cats again.

I've had cats all my life - usually two or three.

Just now I have an old girl called Prudence who sleeps all day - she's seventeen and probably won't be with me much longer

The others are:
1. a handsome white young man (Oscar) I got from a rescue centre who goes round all the neighbours to check they're behaving themselves and sometimes sits on my first floor bedroom windowsill to watch the world go by

and

2. a narly old ginger tom (Tomtom) who had been living rough for the past 3 years and used to sneak in and scoff all the other's food when he thought he could get away with it. When I discovered he had no home I invited him in, had him neutured, vaccinated and de-pested and now he's the most loving and precious fellow you could imagine! Only trouble is, the two lads just don't get on!

However, my three are nothing compared to my sister who once had 20!!!

Incidentally, check out the sig on my avatar!!!

Yes...I do!

I have 3 kitties...a lilac point Siamese, named Puppy (he thinks he's a dog...he begs and everything!)...he also has purple eyes! A long haired Siamese, named Simon...he likes to be spun in the computer chair and spanked. And Roo, she's Puppy's sister and she's the reg. Siamese with the same small features and pointy chin and cool eyes. She also screams really loud when she thinks it's time for a nap or bedtime...she doesn't even get to sleep with us, so I still haven't figured out why she does that.

mannysee - moggies typically make better pets than purebreds :) just for the record.

I was never going to get a "breed" cat - for that reason, but through circumstances ended up with my burmese x himalayan - and he's turned out to have a truely wonderful personallity.

One breed I had thought about in the past was the Australian Mist ( used to be called the spotted mist) and after having this kitty a little while was watching Burkes Backyard or something simliar and they were doing a feature on the australian mist and i couldn't believe how alike in looks and personality my kitty is to them!

they're fun-loving, love to play, good at games like fetch, and they're also very affectionate. They tend to bond well to a single person. Great companions :)

Here's an aussie mist that looks like my kitty

And here's my kitty!

The colors and markings are remarkably alike considering they're totally different breeds. My kitty is a bit fluffier though, even though he's short-haired he's kinda fluffy, guess that's the himalayan in him. He's also much cuter hehe, but i'm biased
