I love our cats, to be sure, but I am more generally an *animal* lover. We (my husband and I) have 12 cats and one dog--all but the dog came to us as a stray, and who are we to say "no" to an animal in need of a home? ;) If you think that's a lot, we actually had thirteen cats until one--my baby--passed away in May. :(

I love cats and dogs and birds. In our household their are 2 cats. Both are calicos. they are sisters. On July 4th they had their 2nd birthday. Mine is called a pastel - lighter shades and her name is Calinda. I call her Callie. My sister's cat is the bright colored version calico and her name is Patches. They have very distinct personalities. It is amazing to me how different they are. Our outside cat is named Mama Cat. About 9 years ago we found her in our front yard one night. Doc said she was about 6 months old and she was pregnant. We let her have her babies and raise them and then found good homes for them. She won't be having any more babies and for that matter neither will Patches and Callie. Mama Cat does not want to be inside. When she had her babies we had fixed her a comfortable spot here in the house. She took care of her babies, spent several hours with them and then when she felt she had done a good job, wanted. She wopuld go to the door and cry and scratch at the door. We let her out. In about 2 hours she would be at the door wanting in. She would come in and see to her babies and back outside she'd go. She is amazing. Last summer she was sleeping under the birch tree in the front yard. Two stray dogs got to her and almost ripped her apart. Doc was able to save her but now she has a difficult time getting around. She will still come and jump on my lap when I sit on the porch and want to be loved on.

I used to HATE cats! I was a total dog person...

Then about 2 months ago I was at the pound with a friend who was getting a kitten and this cute little black cat called out to me... I took him home and loved him for about 2 weeks until he passed away :'( from Upper Respiratory Disease.

Then I went back to the pound and fell in love with Rhiannon! My cute little gray and white princess! And I am now officially a cat person

Wow! That sure is a lot! LOL. I have two kitties. I used to have four. Two of them were my grandma's and two of them were my mom's. (My mom took me to live with my grandparents when I was a baby, since my father was.. not that good. lol). They lived to be in their 20's, belive it or not. The oldest was Blue. She seemed really wise to me. I know some people might think it's dumb that I'm calling my cat wise, but she really was. I could see this knowing in her eyes. Anyway, my kitties I have now are around 14. They're sisters and are named Tiger and Lilly. (Get it? Tigerlilly? Come on, I named them when I was 4 or 5, what do you expect? lo.)

WOW :D I have one her name is Cali, I just had her fixed :cry:poor thing was crying all night. Before her I had an all black cat named Jaco, I loved him, he disappeared before Christmas and i never saw him again. I hope a nice family took him in. I think about him often. Cali is adorable, she is like a zillion different colors, and she is the only cat i have ever seen that will cry when we leave, and greet us at the door when we come home.

My cat does that too!

I have 2 cats, but I only have a pic of Pumpkin.

I have two cats and live with two other cats and two dogs.....whew!
My big guy (he weighs in at a whopping 20 pounds) is named Tino after Valentino the lover, and my little grey guy (he is a Russian Blue) is named Torey because when I first brought him home at about 8 weeks old; he spun around in a circle like a little grey tornado. Hence the name is short for tornado grey. My Tino is so amazing, he actually spoons with you like a person and will sleep the entire night in your arms. He loves to be held and is the charmer of all. He has even melted the heart of two sworn cat "haters". Both my guys are awesome, and I am blessed to have them.

Aww! One of my best friends used to have a siamese, and my mother-in-law used to have one, too. I've just always been fascinated with them. Then I read about the tonkinese. I've never seen one in real life, just the pics in the magazine. But they seem pretty cool, too.

I am a cat person, though my only living cat lives with my sister in South Dakota. His name is Sassy and he is ~7 years old. My parents had to put down my oldest cat over the weekend. She was 18 years old, in March she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, but that is not what did her in. I guess sometime last week she stopped eating, and was down to ~2 lbs, that is 2 Lbs less than what she had weighted the previous week. My mother called me and asked what they should do with her. I suggested puting her down, as she was in a lot of pain. Mom didn't want to do that. When they took her to the vet on Sat. She, the vet, echoed what I had said. Apparently Tiger had severe arthritis in her jaw and that made it quite painful to eat, so she didn't. She also stopped drinking and was severly dehydrated.
