Hey Monica, great sources!
While they are completely valid, for every source I found paying primacy to the See of St.Peter there was one questioning it. (Just got back from dropping a book off at the library on this very topic!)
I have absolutely NOOOO wish to introduce any sort of debate here, but from what I gathered the fathers of the Eastern Church felt they were being very kind declaring the primacy of Rome.
There were so many diplomatic relations at the time that letters reinforcing just about every opinion can be found floating about. Under some patriarchs the Pope was revered, and under others he was not even recognized in their diptychs. (Which was especially common at Constantinople.)
If one conclusion can be drawn, it is that the See of St.Peter was granted primacy by the majority of the Orthodoxy most of the time. I'm just fleshing out that it was not quite as cut and dry as one may expect.
So at the end of the day can we just say that Catholics prefer being called Catholics? And attend a Catholic Church?

Following the above...it was often common practice for the churches which made up the Pentarchy to be referred to by their patriarchal see...the Roman Church, the Antiochian Church etc. The Orthodox, to a large degree still follow this practice. The Eastern rites...are more geographically named / rite names...or named after the founding patriarch (Maronite).
The 28 years that I was rcc I had no problem being referred to as "Roman Catholic"...mainly because I really didn't care what the protestants thought...
