The book of Ezekiel when it was written down, it was highly controversial and only barely made it to the OT. It contains prophesies that were hard to accept by Jews of the time. there is evidence that the way the book is arranged is not in the same order of how it was originally written down by Ezekiel. Have you read the original chapter wise arrangements of the book of Ezekiel and found something new or different about it?

The last written chapters are actually Ch.1-7 . I found it important because Ch3 then would belong to the end part where God tells Ezekiel to eat up the scroll and that whatever Ezekiel says, Israel will not listen because of their hardened hearts. This means whatever Ezekiel said in the previous chapters would be difficult to swallow for the Jews. I have already mentioned that the Jews did not want to include his book in the OT. Point is-I suspect the Jews made it look like the temple to be built was to be great when in fact what Ezekiel may have meant that it would be an abominable act of rebellion- the construction of th temple.

Reading a book by the same author Tova Ganzel: "Ezekiel's Visionary Temple in Babylonian context"

Basically during the time of Ezekiel, the Jews were so entrenched in Babylonian culture, the 3rd Temple was actually Babylonian influenced though constructed by "Jews". This must have been insulting to Rabbis of that time, so they tried to delete it from the OT
