• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am curious to find out if there are any BP1ers who are on monotherapy? Only on mood stabilizersspecifically?

Anyone out there who is stable without any anti-psychotics? BP1 or BP2 for that matter.

Now, I know everyone is different, and one med or coctail of meds may work well for one person but not for another. That being said, I still would like to get input about the need for no anti-psychotics, no anti-depressants, just the anti-seizure med, like Lamictal?

I want off the Seroquel and to stay on Lamictal only and nothing else with my BP1. I think God and me and Lamictal will be fine. I need a pdoc who will let me be in control of my tx plan.

I just want to simplify my med tx so that I can limit my contact with pdocs as little as possible.

Anyone stable without Anti-psychotics? And on monotherapy? Just trying to get a feel with feedback to see how feasible this might be. I have been on Seroquel for almost a year now and have been fairly stable- my obsessing, delusions, paranoia, panic attacks pretty much gone without alot of mental reasoning on my part.

Thanks everyone! God bless you.

Hi MySourjourn,

I'm BP II so I may not have much input. I take Lithium (antipsychotic/antimanic) twice a day and I'm still unstable at times.

I added Paxil (antidepressant) 2 years ago for a crisis situation and I REALLY stabilised. I went off paxil after 4 mths and I was still very stable but I started dipping again recently.

I have also been stable off meds completely. That didn't last but it was a valuable teaching experience.

Meds are a boost, they're helpful but I tend to place alot of emphasis on training my mind to function healthily even when I'm starting to slide. It doesn't work all the time but it's been really helpful in helping me cope. Meds are like a good fog clearer, they take stuff I can't control out of the equation so I can focus on the stuff I can control.

I was stable and doing well on monotherapy with a mood stabilizer. Then I developed a clinically significant side effect (low sodium) despite the fact that I didn't feel anythung. Now I am switching mood stabilizers very slowly so I am on two mood stabilizers as of 2 days ago. Blessings!! Monotherapy does work for some, but by an dlarge, most peopel I run into need a combo of meds.

Dear Mysojourn

Wouldn't that sort of being like:

" THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND "

JUST THINK OF ALL THOSE YEARS THE DOCTOR WASTED IN SCHOOL!!!

He could of just told his patients:

" GO HEAL YOURSELF "

BE A GOOD BIPOLAR AND WORK WITH YOUR DOCTOR WHILE YOU REMEMBER:

X Even though you can't see him, GOD is there!!! O
( click on the x and drag to the O ) ( then see who is with you ) steven
