  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can anyone recommend a book (fairly inexpensive) with the near canonical New Testament writings. I have found an online site with these writings, but wanted a "hard copy". I have not been able to find a single book, without having to buy a multiple volume set for several hundred dollars. Mostly I am interested in 3 Corinthians, 1 & 2 Clement, Shepard of Hermas, Epistle of Barnabas, and a few others.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

As far as I know the 3rd letter to the Corinthians has never been found so you cannot get that one...but the collection of apocryphal books and some of the early church writings (as interpreted by Bishop Wake in the 1700s) is made available in "The Lost Books of the Bible" (google it)...it contains Barnabas, Clement, Ignatius, the Shepherd, and others

Thanks Damon Rambo.
I found a multi volume set, (about 20 volumes) but lots of commentary, etc.
Having the works in one book would be great.
I just wanted something, paperback, that I could read some of the works of the early church fathers.
Thanks again.

These are the 'Apostolic Fathers,' a sub-set of the Ante-Nicene Fathers. What you want is The Apostolic Fathers in English by Michael W. Holmes.
