Should a Christian truly keep more money than they need and say, "No, Jesus, I won't give more to the poor!"?

If we can't use it or don't *need* it then where does the sacrifice come in?

Wouldn't it be pleasing to Christ to give to charity a little more than what we need by sacrificing a shiny new car for less expensive shiny new car, sacrificing a pizza here, a dvd, there sacrificing a little of what makes us comfortable for the benefit of others who have nothing?

If all Christians are simply accumulating wealth instead of giving to the poor then how is it that the gospel message is being spread throughout the whole world?

And isn't it true that the more I give to the poor and to the cause of Christ that God blesses me with more causing me to prosper because of my obedience in giving according to the Word of God?
