  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone seen the television special advertised called 'Who's Your Daddy?'

I figured it would be one of those reality tv shows where some dingbat is looking for a sugar daddy, and goes on satan's tool in order to find one.

But it's really about daughters who don't know who their biological fathers are, and they exploit the situation by bringing 7 old men on and the girl has to try and guess who her real father is. Or something as stupid as that.

Aren't there laws in place that could prevent this ridiculousness?

Activists in the adoption community immediately attacked the special, which will air for 90 minutes on January 3.

"This is really perverse," said Adam Pertman, executive director of the Evan P. Donaldson Adoption Institute, a research and policy organization. "It takes a deeply personal and important experience and turns it into a money-grubbing game show. I think it is despicable."

Thanks, Asimis!

What's next is already here, and it's on MTV (it's no surprise MTV is pushing the envelope, once again). It's called "You've got a friend"; a reality show that totally exploits the demoralization of its characters, just for some cash. It can be pretty bad.

I enjoy "Boiling Points" though. That show is pretty humurous and is more playfull than demoralizing like "You've got a Friend" is.

My sister in law is a social worker at Catholic charities, she does adoptions. She said some network called them because they are doing a similar program called 7 daughters for 7 fathers. They wanted to know if the adoptions department there would help them out. She basically told them were to go. She's not one to mince words, either. I would have loved to have heard the conversation.

Many of these socalled reality shows are really pathetic. The only one I like is "Extreme Makeover, the Home Edition".

If she wanted to know who her daddy is she could have gotten a simple DNA test and that would have solved the riddle. :sigh:

One of the worst I have seen thus far is "The Swan". It's a show that takes overwieght people, perform lyposuction on their hips and stomachs and such, perform plastic surgery on their faces, and then they compete in a beauty pagant.

:sigh:

lol... that made me laugh. But she wouldn't have won 10 grand for picking him out of a line up that way. :)

I watch re runs on TBS I think it is. I like 'Law and Order'... they play reruns of that sometimes. I see a voyeur program advertised called 'The Real Gilligan's Island'--it's like a Survivor twist. But they dress up like Gilligan's Island characters. Just what I can gather from the follow up advertisments, Gilligan and Mary Ann have already had an affair.
