• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have a few things going on with me and was wondering if you guys are going through this, or have gone through this.

  • when I hear someone say that they love the Lord, it causes me to doubt and ask myself “do I love the Lord”
  • it is really hard to study or meditate on the things of God, and is easier to think of other things that do not pertain to God, and it stresses me out cause I want to meditate on Him
  • random feelings of “I don’t wanna be a Christian” or “this stuff isn’t really real, just live the way you want”
  • feelings of giving up on the faith
  • im so self concise , its like I over observe the way I do everything, to the way I say “I love you Lord” or to the way that I look at Him, and anything else that pertains to the Christian walk
Has anyone been going through these? I am trying to figure out whats my ocd and whats really me.

Joe, It's your OCD. I do all of the same things. But just remember that your mind is seperate from your heart. You are having thoughts that you do not want. These thoughts are so hard and disturbing, because they are the complete oppisite of how you really feel. You love the Lord. I can see this easily by your post. Your gonna a make it. Just try and recognize them as OCD and not you when these darts of doubt are being shot at you.

This is a verse that has helped me through
Job 11:13-20

13 "Yet if you devote your heart to him
and stretch out your hands to him,
14 if you put away the sin that is in your hand
and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,
15 then you will lift up your face without shame;
you will stand firm and without fear.

16 You will surely forget your trouble,
recalling it only as waters gone by.

17 Life will be brighter than noonday,
and darkness will become like morning.
18 You will be secure, because there is hope;
you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
19 You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid,
and many will court your favor. 20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail,
and escape will elude them;
their hope will become a dying gasp."

We would not want our children being so terrified of us this way.
Any good parent wants their children to feel safe and secure and loved.
We are safe with God.
We are loved even if we make mistakes.
That is why Jesus died.
When we have a problem or make a mistake or fear something,even our own minds we have the privilege of running to Jesus to save and protect us.
If a child were to fall in a pool over their head or get hit by a car,does a parent go thats it for you,too bad,I told you to stay away from the pool or road?
No we save them and love on them.
Jesus is better at meeting our needs than a parent is.
He is trustworthy.
He is our Rock and solid foundation,He is the Way and the Truth and the Life.
He is Meek and gentle and lowly in heart and we shall find rest for our souls.
Jesus wants us to have peace and joy and love.
Jesus wants us to love life and enjoy life and be full of peace and have rest for our souls.
He does not want us going around terrified of Him or our thoughts or anything.
Jesus wants us to fear not.
Perfect love casts out fear and when we know how much Jesus cares for us and loves us we fear not, then we love Jesus because we understand how much He loves us and we will spontaneously love Him back.When we understand how good Jesus is and how lovely he is and how trustworthy he is we respond with love and not dread.
When we understand that Jesus is an all powerful Saviour who bought our salvation already with His own blood,the chains can fall off and we can be free.
God says to taste and see that He is good.
As the heavens are higher than the earth so are God's ways higher than ours and His thoughts than our thoughts.
So I can only hope to imagine how good God is in comparison to us .
God says His plans are to give us hope and a future not harm.
God is gracious and forgiving.
