Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

I was wondering what is meant by cowardly here? Not sure because I think I am a coward beacause I can't talk about the gospel. Thanks for your time and care. God bless

I think that means those who would deny their belief in the Lord. So if it came down to it, would you deny the Lord? (Now, I'm not actually calling you out on that, it's more like one of those, If it came down to it, would you "insert action here", type of things) I don't know that answer for me, which is unnerving in its own right. But that's my best guess as to the meaning of that verse.

God bless

The "cowardly" are not those who are fainthearted in their faith, or sometimes doubt, or question, but those who turn back from being a believer.

They are the lukewarm Christians, referred to in the Parable of the Sower as wayside, rocky, thorny Christians.

They are not brave enough to stand up for our Lord Jesus Christ, and work in passive Lordship.

They are not humble enough to accept HIS authority over their lives. As referred to as a pseudo Christian.

They are put in the same list as the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the liars, the idolaters, the sexually immoral and those practising magic arts and being involved in other religion practices.

Well you didn't stand up for our Lord Jesus Christ, you refused to identify yourself with HIM.

with those posts that are saying if you deny the Lord you forfeit your salvation. Apparently they forget about Peter and the other apostles, and if we had been there we also would have denied the Lord.

Your salvation is either eternally secured NOW or you are not yet a Christian. It is not based upon dying for the Lord or any other act.

Christianity is a Family relationship, not a conditional relationship like a friendship. Read Rev 21:7 If you are truely a Christian, then you are in the family of Gods' and a child of God's eternally, not conditionally. You are either in the family or not. Once in the family you are forever in the family.

Now you could stand ashamed before the Lord for denying Him, you could forfeit rewards, but your salvation is never in question.

Our salvation is NOT based upon us, it is based on what Jesus has done for us. In Rev 21:8 it also mentions "liars", well who of us have never told a lie? So Rev 21:8 is not speaking of believers but those who never believed.

When we received Christ as Saviour, we received the Holy Spirit as our seal of salvation. See 2 Cor. 1:22, Ephesians 1:13, 4:30 and Hebrews 13: 5.

God does not remove the Holy Spirit based on what we do. If keeping the Holy Spirit were based on conditions, then none of us would have the Holy Spirit.
2 Cor 13:5 warns all believers to "examine ourselves to be sure we are in the faith." But if you in the faith, you are forever in the faith. It's a gift from God and God does not take back gifts...lol.
