Hello,

My question is, is the following verse saying that the Father is Jesus' God?

"so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 15:6

I know they are all God, but why does the verse make it sound like Jesus is below Him? Sorry, this is probably a simple question, but I can't figure it out myself.

"God is the God of Christ, as Christ is man; who prepared the human nature for him, anointed it with the Holy Spirit, supported it in life, in sufferings and death, and glorified it at his own right hand; and in which nature Christ exercised every grace on him, as faith, hope, and love; discharged every duty to him, worshipped him, prayed unto him, and was in all things obedient to his will: and God is the Father of Christ, as Christ is God; for as man he had no father. Now he is "glorified" when the perfections of his nature are ascribed unto him; when notice is taken of the works of his hands, and the glory of his majesty, which appears in them; when praise is offered up, and thanks given for all mercies, temporal and spiritual, he bestows on his people; when they join together in the solemn worship of him, presenting their bodies, and giving up their hearts unto him; when they unite in praying to him, and singing his praise; and when their lives and conversations are agreeable to their profession of him."

Hope that helps.

Jesus is below him because he submits to him. The Father/Son division is arbitary since God is one essence. Although they are equal in being, one is arbitarily submissive to the other.

The Bible says that Christ allowed himself to be like man, lower than the angels, but actually, if you read the passage you posted, it isn't implying that Christ is lower at all.

[q]so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 15:6[/q]

It's refering to the totality of God, The God from whom our Lord originated.

Okay, thanks...I'm still kind of confused. Is Jesus submissive now or just when he was on earth?
Because he was submissive on earth, God hath highly exalted him so that every name and every knee would bow and call him Lord. God that Father has made him Lord of the entire universe (though he was in the very form of God to begin with (Phil. 2).

Okay that's good to know. :)
How come Paul referred the Father as Jesus' God again?
Cuz there is no other God, is there? He's The God and origin of Christ, and in that sense, God is the father of Christ, like George Washington is the father of our country, or George Washington Carver is the father of agricultural research. Anytime someone is the originator of something, that person is called the father of that thing. Thus The God is the father of Christ, because Christ originated in The God.
