  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,



I cannot begin to thank you enough for your prayers, encouragement, concern, and wisdom. About an hour ago I received a third call (two last Tuesday) from my wife. She was at a pet store and learned of an eight month old Cocker Spaniel that needs to be adopted. She called me to ask if I might want to get Gator (the Cocker I already own and that had been a major sore subject for my wife and I) a buddy. I told her that I hadn't given that much thought, but I am open to it. Then I asked her if she would go with me to see this Cocker when she is available to be looked at (she needs to be seen by a veterinarian first). My wife said that she would go with me. Not only can I not believe that my wife is thinking about me at all, but to be thinking about getting another Cocker (which isn't her favorite dog...it is mine) and to be thinking about Gator. WOW!!! The Lord is just blowing my away. Since our last conversation on Tuesday, I had felt a little "let down" yesterday and today because I hadn't talked to her again and then comes another call out of the blue. Our Lord is so faithful. He knows my heart and He knows how much I have changed. When I got married I thought about what I was getting out of the deal, though not very consciously, and now I know the purpose of marriage is to give...to be selfless...to love and bless the other person. I look so forward to the opportunity to show my wife this new found side of me. Thank you again for your continued prayers...Michael

cbudc... Definitely on cloud 9, though I still need to guard my heart and mind until it is abundantly clear what my wife’s motives and desires are. Prayerfully they are to seek reconciliation and serve the Lord together as husband and wife again. You are very much correct...this will definitely strengthen our marriage. Thank you for your prayer. It is only through the many prayers that the body of Christ lifts up for one another that we will see the mighty hand of God move in the lives of our heavenly family...Michael

I know I shouldn't be surprised...but this totally surprised me...and yet, how horrible that is for me to be surprised!! God is awesome, and if we let Him, He can heal anything that is within His will for us....what wonderful news!! Thank you for sharing this with us. May God continue to bless your marriage, and not only to restore it, but to make it better than you ever thought possible!!

seekfirst... Me too, me too. I was talking to some friends about it and told them the same thing. We are all surprised, but shouldn't be because we serve such an awesome God. Thank you, thank you, thank you...I too believe that our marriage will be better then we ever imagined possible...Michael

bkg... Your thoughts mean so much to me. Thank you. Please help me to be accountable to the "obedient and patient" part. I am going crazy. I saw my Laura last night at church, but didn't say anything to her. This is the first time that I have seen her stay after and not bolt out. I was getting a cup of coffee from the table next to her as she was talking with someone. I wanted to badly to say something, but didn't feel that I had her "permission" to approach her just yet. I wanted to invite her to a movie or Starbucks, yet I knew the timing wasn't right. Please keep me in your prayers as this is actually getting much more difficult now that there is some communication because I still don't really know her thoughts about the future. It's driving me nuts. I keep doing what has gotten me this far...reaching out to God. I feel like He has taken the training wheels off of my bicycle and is testing me to see if I can ride this thing without them. I know He is growing my character and I feel like I am about to fail. I have been thinking somewhat negatively about this whole thing all day. This is exactly what the enemy wants. As soon as there is some breakthrough, he wants to destroy it before it has time to build into a strong relationship. I imagine that Laura may be feeling things out as well, and may be very apprehensive about everything. I have to let her lead and keep doing what I know the Lord is asking me to do: mainly give up control to Him. I love you my brother. Thank you for hanging in there with me...Michael

Praise God...just let him lead you!...and do not get too impatient...or greedy...which is hard to do b/c I have been in that situation...God gave me a bit of communication and I got greedy for more and tried to take things in my own hands..outta God's :doh: :eek: and it was just a big mess..thankfully God is picking up the pieces and things are turning around..Love in Christ...

tonya... Thank you for being real and sharing your personal stories. They really enlighten me and encourage me not to make all the same mistakes that others have as well all to let me know that you have been in my shoes. I have often said that I don't have enough "life-times" to make all the mistakes in the world, so I would rather learn from others. Unfortunately, words are cheap and I've eaten many of them because, though my intentions were noble, I chose not to heed the wisdom of others and have made way too many mistakes as it is. Thank you again for your prayers and wisdom...Michael
