Hi. I'm new here at Christian Forums. I came here in the hopes that someone can help me.

I used to be a Christian. I say used to because somewhere around age 15, disgusted with the world and how Christians portrayed portrayed, decided that if i couldn't keep my faith, I should at least stop calling myself Christian. For the last 6 years, I've struggled with this. I kept most of my moral standards, but I think mainly from the "that's just how I was raised" part of me, not out of desire.

If that's not bad enough, I still attended [and stil ldo] a church and regularly practice "weekend Christendom" if for no other reason that to avoid people asking about my spiritual situation.

To make a long story short, I've been trying to come back. I've been praying for God to convict me, i asked for salvation again.

but I don't hear anything back. Which, is why I'm here. It was for this very reason that I fell from His favor when I was a teen. I never seemed to hear back.

I guess I'm looking for some fellowship, prayers or any sort of advice yall can give me as to how to get back on track.

Welcome to Christian Forums!

Hi, hmm... I understand how when you saw other Christians not walking the walk so to speak how you could get disenchanted. The key to remember though is though saved, we do still sin, have the same personality, and carry over struggles that God has not yet changed in us, as we may not give it over to Him, or in some areas we may never change. It's a life long process. So of course you will run into us, and think perhaps hypocritcal of some, but please remember we are still struggling with our sin, and God is working in our lives.

In regards to moral standards, I agree some are from who we are, how we are raised, however wasn't the case in my situation. I was raised with no morals nor direction so becoming a Christian brought a radical change in me, however it's not like this for all. Everyone's walk is differnt and at a different place.

The thing is God wants to change us from the inside out, not the outside in. Anybody, a non christian can have very high morals, and yet be without Christ.

I'm sorry you feel you need have to go to church so that others won't question your spiritual situation. I'm wondering if this church is good for you. If you are not hearing, then perhaps another church or checking into some others might be better.

You wrote you want God to convict you. I don't need to know about what, but is it something external or internal that you wish Him to convict you about. It's when we do wrong that the Holy Spirit convicts us, however, if we are not in the word, and do not see what we are doing is wrong, then we haven't given it to God to help us with us.

Or is the conviction your looking for regarding a deeper walk or walk with Christ. Due to free will, He calls us, and we either hear or don't hear. I didn't come to Christ because I was convicted at all. I came to Christ, and later was convicted. The conviction came as I knew immediately some things had to change, no man told me this, but I knew I was doing wrong, and my life had changed. Then as I read the bible and saw more things, I turned them over to God. The Holy Spirit taught me much, though it comes by being in the word, or bringing things to God.

I turned away from things, and though already forgiven, asked forgivness. So it comes from a general knowledge of right and wrong, and knowing or being washed in the word as well.

God loves you very much. He is not silent. He speaks through His word to you. I'm thinking either the church you in isn't helpful at this particular stage in your walk, or that you are tuning out what is being said. Both are possible. It's okay.

You will find lots of fellowship here on CF, meet lots of wonderful people. I will pray for you friend.

The way to get back on track is to tell God all that's on your heart, tell him how you feel, and get into the word, so you can renew your mind. Get into a small group, a bible study or such, and looks for people to disciple you and help you. God has his men and women in the church, and because of women in the first church I went to, I was greatly helped and encouraged in my walk with God. Not all have the gift to disciple or mentor, but there are those that do. I pray you find those folks and that God leads you to them.

Also of course you know this, but we come to Christ by faith (not by sight or feelings) in Him, that we believe in Him, that He died and paid for our sins on the cross and that He was resurrected. We are then indwelled by the Holy Spirit who seals us guaranteeing our redemption (salvation.)

God bless you on your journey,
PM me any time,
I would love to be a new friend.

Fallen, have you actually recommitted your life to Jesus? Asked Him to be Lord of your life, submitting everything to Him? You must know that there are many people out there who call themselves Christians, but their fruit don't profess it. It is by their fruit that you will know who really is a born again believer, and walking closely with Jesus.

When you made that covenant with God, the first time you gave your life to Him, you may have wondered away from your faith, but God NEVER let go of that covenant with you. He still has you in the palm of His hand, your name is engraved in His hand. The Christian faith is not easy, it's not a happy happy place. Jesus Himself said we would suffer, we would go through trials and tribulations, but with God ALL things are possible. At the moment, you are seeking Him, and He says that if you draw near to Him, He WILL draw near to you. Don't give up, even if you can't hear Him now.

He has never left you, and He will never forsake you. Remember, that satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, and he has kept your mouth shut for 6 years (in the way of not speaking about God, giving Him glory, destoying your walk with Him). Now is the day of salvation, and now is the day for you to open your mouth and confess all your sins to our Father, you will be forgiven. Open your mouth and glorify God, praise His Name. God loves you so much. Please don't beat yourself up about the last 6 years. Look ahead, look to Jesus, the cross and don't let satan hold you back in the past. Your future is with our Lord. There is no future in the past. Keep reading the word, there is life there. God sees your heart. Can you talk to your pastor? Can you open up to him?

Fallen, what was the last thing you heard from God?

The sermons at my church are very good, actually. It's part of what's been slowly chipping away at my aparent agnosticism lately--the sermons. The people are fine; in truth, I fear most of the problem lies within myself. I'm more than convinced people would help me if I asked, but I don't know how.

How exactly do you go up to someone you've know for years and tell them, you've been lying? That you don't know if you believe in God? That you've never really read the Bible, or that every time you pray, you feel like a little kid telling his brother he's sorry. but he's not really sorry?

I tried to explain this all to my fiance the other day, but he didn't know what to tell me.

I just don't know what to do. How do you make sure you aren't tuning God out?

The thing is to find someone you can trust and feel comfortable with. Someone who you feel won't judge you. Not all are trustworthy. Few are, so try to find the right person to talk this over with. I recently has a sister in Christ, a friend, confess a sin to me. There is no shock in what she said, as we are all vulnerable to sin. It is no surprise, and to a trusted brother, your saying you've been living a different life will not be a bomb, but will lead to healing, understanding, love and support.

We all go through trials, and we need have a brother or sister we can tell everything too. But again they must be trustworthy.

Many go to church and are feeling or walking completely different than on Sundays. It's a struggle, a spiritual battle we are in.

It is good to be open with another about things, a spiritual advisor sort of person. We all do wrong, we all sin. You will be making yourself vulnerable, and that's not an easy thing to do. It sounds though that God is leading you in this way.

I'm so glad that you are in a good church.

It sounds to me like you aren't tuning God out as you said the sermons are chipping away at things. So this is very good.

God bless you,
tapero

Hey fallen, how you today? Today is very special, Jesus died on the cross for you......and me.....and all the other siants in the world. He did it because He loves us. And then He rose victoriously. I know this may be diff for you now, but read the bible, start in the gospel of John. It's beautiful, and tell Jesus you want a personal, intimate relationship with Him. Push through, God honours those who diligently seek Him. I'm praying for you. What's your name?

Thank you for your prayers.

I've been working all weekend, I didn't disappear. I went to church on Sunday, in hopes to here a sure fire sermon from the Pastor. Now if I had only sat behind err.. a quieter row in church. It was very annoying to be so distracted by adults whispering. They were worse, if possible, then the four year old child scribbling and poking his sister. *sigh*

Does anyone know where I could find a Bible that had the translations still there? I mean to say, it has the "translated" portion and says what it's translated from? For instance, if the translation said "fornication" and the note said "that is, the greek word "pornea" meaning.. .etc etc. and show me what else it translates to and where else it's used in the Bible?

My Pastor reads Greek and he does this for us. It really helps me understand better. But I'm not sure I'm up to learning ancient Greek so I can read the Bible better. Any suggestions?

Well, remember the story about the prodical son? His father welcomed back with great love! God doesn't talk to you in an audible voice most of the time; but His Word - the Bible is who He is. God is His Word. Just take a day at a time by;
Asking Christ back into your life and the Holy Spirit back into your heart; go to a bible believing church (a real one). They will practice what they preach and won't play games and play church. Read the Bible daily and surround yourself with real practicing christians. I use the word "real" because there is a gross amount of hyprocrites in this world. Don't let them deceive you. The Bible tells you the truth - not man made wisdom.

Feel free to email me anytime.

Hi, I'm not familiar with differnt bibles but a few, but maybe someone would know this. I would ask this at exposition and bible study under theology.

http://www.christianforums.com/f235-exposition-bible-study.html

Someone there might know a bible as such and might help with the name of it.

Blessings,

Thank you so much BloodFire. I am still seriously considering to add ancient languages to my library of linguistics.

For those who've been tuning into my life as a soap opera [y'all know who you are. And Thank you for praying for me. I certainly feel it the last few days]:
I've spent the last two days sick, but it meant I needed something to read when lucid. So I picked up some of those annoying pre-marital counsoling books me and the boy were supposed to go through, but couldn't stand.

They make a little more sense, but not much.
But the good news is I'm begining to feel something. What is it it? I don't know. But i didn't used to feel anything. It's also been easier to avoid all those things which I love but shouldn't do [aka sinning?]. then again, I haven't felt like doing much of anything, so I don't know. Maybe it's the start of something I've been waiting for a while.

Truth be told? I don't think I've ever heard God talk to me.

You have! Otherwise you wouldn't be here. Why are you seeking answers about Him? Because He is calling you.
He loves you so much more than you can ever know, and He is just longing to bring you into the fullness of all He has for you.
God can speak to you in many ways - through sermons, through other people , through His word. Just keep listening, and He will answer you!
Bless you, sister.
I am praying for you.

I'm praying for you too Fallen. Only I don't know your name, so I say to the Lord, "The one who calls herself fallen, Lord :D , You know her".

You won't be fallen much longer my friend. Our Father is calling you, and you are not used to His voice yet, hence your strange feelings. Respond to Him, open your heart to Him, welcome Jesus into your life, and I promise you, you will never be sorry.

There is so much peace with Jesus, no matter what you go through, and that peace is so evident, because it's given with so much love. Please don't turn away from Him, He loves you, and will walk the tough road ahead with you, because He will never leave you to your own.
