How interesting, again. It appears that even in the face of an incredible disaster relief effort, unprecedented in history, the media will still call this a 'national disgrace.' And of course, they (along with the usual chorus line of Dems and liberals) will move heaven and earth to pin the blame on the federal government, especially its current executive.

I do find it odd. I have been talking with friends at church over the weekend and found that many have tuned out. The Media has been saturated every form of misery. Many have seen enough. Emotion has trumpted reasoning in a society that wants their Gov't to protect them from eveything and been lolled into thinking that it can but won't.

Great post. Most people must have short memories because I hear so often, "last time we were pulling people out in 2 hours and now it's 5 days." Next time we have a calamity everyone will blame whomever is the current president for not doing as well as when Katrina hit.

And this:
BWAH! Awesome!

Exactly!
This is what I have been saying all along with all the other hurricanes.
People would go months...MONTHS without power!
Roads would be closed for days, if not weeks.

Toss in a major damage report that spans 3 states, the size of Great Britian.
Some gun shooting thugs, and you have yourself one huge mess to deal with!

Actually, they'll probably blame GWB for it, even if it's fifty years after his death. They'll point to some obscure decision he made in the past week or so, then finger that as the cause for whatever calamity happens in the future.
BWAH! Awesome!
I liked that quote, but I figured the other one was more to the point of the article.

An opinion piece from Ohio quoting a Florida Army National Guardsman blows away "another journalistic myth?" And you claim liberals are trying to move heaven and earth.

There's a lot more to the column than one quote. And I claim that liberals are trying to replace heaven with earth, not move them both.

If we're looking to gauge the effectiveness of the response, Clinton's generally lauded FEMA is probably the org. to which Bush/Brown's FEMA should be compared.

I don't see what's gained by comparing the response of one incompetent Bush to another.

Re: the speed with which troops were deployed, there's enough crafty, lawyerly language to make me skeptical:

How many troops constitute "in strength" v a "significant" presence?

Sorta like the way you all do with Clinton? Can't be Bush or the Republican's fault...must be Clintons!!

As much as I dislike Bush and everything he's done, I will admit that he's getting too much of the blame. Local, state, and the federal government are all to blame.

To the Dems: It's not all Bush's fault; partisan rhetoric won't get you very far. Put aside your "I hate Bush" glasses and try to be objective. And to the Repubs: Bush is not God and can (and has) made mistakes. This is one, he could have done better. Admit it and move on. He's not invincible as many of you would believe.

My bad, I guess I misread this

This isn't the same guy. The guy you're talking about is named Jack Kelley, the guy the original poster quoted is named Jack Kelly, without the 'e'.

http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0404/jkelly042204.asp

"The irony is 'Jack Kelly' isn't the name by which my family and friends know me. I was named John Michael Kelly, after my father and grandfather. Dad was known as 'Jack,' so I have been called 'Mike' by family and friends since my birth (except for an annoying friend of my mother's, who persisted in calling me 'Johnny Mike').... I took 'Jack Kelly' as a nom de plume in order — I thought — to avoid confusion."

"But I'd much rather be confused with the late great Michael Kelly of the Washington Post than with Jack Kelley of USA TODAY, serial fabulist and plagiarist.... So since this controversy began, I've thought of going to 'Mike Kelly' as a byline. That would let my readers know me by the same name as my friends do. But the switch could add yet more confusion."

That doesn't change the fact that this is an opinion piece, and shouldn't be taken as fact.
