• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know what to make out of this, but I give it a try.

I am 6'1" and is only 122 lbs. Almost every week it is 2 or 3 days when I don't eat at all. Sometimes I feel fat and trying to go down to 110 lbs.

Don't think this is a big deal, but yesterday I was talking to a good friend of mine and she told me that I have anorexia and she is really worried about me and I promised her to do something about it.

I don't know what to do about it, but she told me about this part of the forum, so here I am.

What is your opinion on this?
Thank you for reading trough this and thanks for your answers.

Well, you'd really need to see a physician to properly diagnose you, but it does sound like you have a problem. Some people are just naturally thin, for sure, but that is way thin. plus, it sounds like you're actively trying to lose weight when a so-called "normal" person would probably want to gain it.

You already said you are willing to get help - that's awesome. Now you just have to find it. If you are in school the counsellor or nurse is a good way to start.

My normal weight is 135 lbs, so I am normal thin.

But the last 2 years I feel thicker, so I don't eat much. After awhile I don't feel any thiner, so I try to loose weight.

Now that I am 122 lbs and don't feel any thiner, I try to get to 110 lbs. Think that will help.

I am currently dealing with being anorexic. Two years ago is when it really hit me hard and I didn't go to a doctor about it, the guy I liked at the time was the only person I told. I am thankful for him because he would sit there with me for hours talking about food until I would actually eat. Now it is back, and I am losing lots of weight. This time I have the support of my friends and I am not hiding it from them. They ask me every day if I have eaten, which gives me the extra push to do so, even though I have been really sick to my stomach because I am abusing my body in this manner.

I don't see myself as skinny.

The fact that you don't see yourself as skinny says that you have a problem - you should probably also see your Dr - as well as doing the research that Dee suggested

I did take a look at the researches and from what I could find it was just alot of facts. The facts tells me I have anorexia, but that don't help me.

I don't think it will help to see a doctor. They will only tell me that I have anorexia. What good is that for. People have already told me that.

I think what will help me to start listen to what other tells me is people that care about me. Not people that get money for telling me stuff.

I don't know, just my opinion.

Lately I've been very conscientious about my weight and body. I've been fatigued lately because for the past 3 or 4 years I have been in a depression phrase that I'm trying desperately to get out of. It's been a long time since I've felt like this... Anyways, I often go to the BMI calculator http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm It's no substitute for a doctor but it helps with analyzing your weight. I myself am 5'11" and about 127-28 lbs. That's still fairly skinny. I would like to gain at least 15 lbs. Now, I actually used to fast before. If that's what you're doing, then that's different. Fasting was my way of motivating myself. And yes, it did very much motivate me. But, you know your own body and you have to be careful with fasting, if that's what you are doing. And, you are right...according to the facts you are skinny and underweight. According to the calculator you are well below the number for underweight individuals. If you are busy all the time and don't feel like you have time to eat, then maybe buy some Ensure or weight gain drinks from your local grocery. They may taste bad at first, but when you're on the go they taste great! LOL God Bless!

No Truth in Beauty.

Thank you for sharing this with us tommyngina. I hope you start to eat more. Don't become like me. That is not healthy. You are a God's schild and are too important to get lost.

Remember God loves you no matter what. I urge you to do something with it, before the problem is getting to big.

Sure. I don't really talk about it much. I guess because I don't see it as an issue. Until sometimes I think...have I eaten today? I just get so tired too. I know I have no fuel for my body. I guess I just don't know what my deal is!!:) You remember that you too are a child of God and you are also too important to get lost! PM me if you want to talk.
