Anointed

I've mentioned here before that I do some barefoot walking... And now, with a little experience, I know the value of moisturising and oiling the feet. Otherwise very hard callouses form and are too hard.. when they split... Ouch!
There are stories in the Bible of Jesus having his head and feet anointed... and I can really see what a pleasant and loving act that would be, in a physical sense.
I even wonder if Jesus might have been a barefooter too? I figure shoes or sandals were expensive and would have only been used for longer, harder journeys?

What is the spiritual significance of anointing?

James 5 it is claiming the promise of the presence of the Holy Spirit to heal, to renew, or to commission for ministry

A King was anointed to be King. A sign of the HS.
a prophet was anointed.
we are to anoint our heads when fasting. Putting on the Vitalis or VO5 to not look haggard.
consecrated to God.
