  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Clayman, it's hard to really form an overall opinion on anime as that is what you seems to be doing. Think of anime as movies or TV series, how can you make a judgement call on it? it's so diverse.

If you could give us some titles that your sister's watching as Saint Mark suggested, that would allow us a solid basis to give any useful advice as to what type of anime your sis's drawn to. You could also take a look at the 'anime misconceptions' sticky thread in this forum to get some general ideas on anime.

Anime shouldn't worry or frighten you, silly. It's so cool! Im a 45 yr old mom of a 13-yr old who draws anime, watches it, loves it. She drew an angel anime gal for the (catholic) school greeting card contest... I love her art, she is very focused with it. She could be doing other things..... Find something else to worry about, like your drippy faucet.

Don't be worried! It's just a Japanese drawing style, and their story ideas just happen to a bit more creative than ours :D . (I do have to warn you though, the dubbed english versions can be very corny/cheesy at times :help: ) The "anime books" are called manga, and they are just comic books...like batman, spiderman, etc. Which anime shows does she like? In Japan, they don't just have cartoons for children, but for adults too, which means that there are many genres (some being bad, some good, and some that are in the middle...just like all tv shows).

I resent that remark >(

Take away the fancy japanese title, and you get: cartoon. It all just depends on how strict you are with your viewing.

Aaannd i have a bunch more opinions on this issue but half have already been mentioned and the other half regard stereotypes and art which i don't suppose they really pertain to the topic. lol
