• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Animated graphics...pls stop

Not sure why people are becoming obsessed with adding these to posts, but they've gone beyond old and annoying. And since saying that means people will imagine themselves funny/clever by putting them in this thread, I take leave of it.

Just a thought; I doubt I'm the only one (really) tired of these.....

I'm thinking of folk who have visual problems - and we have some here.

These are really really irritating for them - they must be going through all kinds of hell trying to read posts with the flashing you get from the animated gifs in siggies

Sorry. It's like ticks with me. Same goes whenever there is a prime opening for that's what she said.

That depends on your point of view - agreed

how do you classify mine ?
What means more to you? Not seeing the obnoxious - ness or seeing the edifying signatures? It seems to me that is what it boils down to. Asking people to stop doing it just because it's annoying will probably only result in them doing it more. Even the OP acknowledges as much by starting the thread and heading for the hills. And if it's not breaking the rules, why should they stop?

p.s. Everything I can cover up on this site IS covered up.

I recommend disabling them like I do.

Account / Preferences / Untick 'Show people's signatures with their messages'

an even easier (and more selective) alternative is to put the members who tend to use personally irritating pictures or
signatures on 'ignore'.

not for me personally., i think they're (mostly) cute.
as a member who does use the moving smilies provided on this site,
i'm not likely to be flinging mud at others who choose to use moving fgures in their posts.

but for those who find moving things irritating and who choose (or need to choose) not to see them,
disabling the view via the member is a better choice than disabling all signatures.

For the most part, only a handful of people have signatures that are 'overbearing' to me. This could be because I restrict the forums I view.

Personally I like the ones containing verses, or other snippets of important information. The art signatures - especially some of the byzantine images are beautiful too.

I'm conflicted.

On one hand when it was asked by guys like me that people stop using the Confederate flag in their posts and such you decided that it was too much to ask.

One the other hand I really hate animated GIFs on several levels.

The saving grace in all of this is my overarching laziness which means that I'm unlikely to take any action in either direction.

So,

carry one, I guess.
