  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love animals but I still eat meat. I don't eat certain animals, only those that are raised specifically for food, but even that's on a limited basis. I eat beef every now and then, maybe once a month, it's mostly chicken and fish for me and I don't eat pork at all. I don't see any reason why I should not eat meat, that's what they're raised for. For me, cows and chickens are not the same as my cats, dogs, or other animals. If I had a pet cow, I'd probably feel differently about it.

Oh!! So if an Animal is raised for meat then they grow with no nervous system?

Therefore they cannot feel the pain caused from modern farming techniques and they feel no pain when slaughtered?

I see where you are coming from!!! :scratch:

i like animal, and i like to eat animals. of course like poultry, beef, pork, and fish.im not gonna walk outside tho and eat my dog;) i think God gave us animals to use for work, to be a companion, and for food.

In that case you couldn't get angry if somebody came around and ate your dog?

I don't believe animals have souls, feelings but not souls. As a Christian I believe animal were put here for man. Doesn't mean I think you should treat them poorly. I don't eat veal due to the way the keep the calfs to make the meat tender nor do I wear fur. I also don't care for testing products on animals. We already know bleach is toxic no need to dump it in rabbit's eyes. I don't have a problem with medical testing or with people who eat dogs/cats in other countries. I would have a problem with someone eating my dog since it's mine and I take care of it or any other animal I might have.

I have to say not eating animals doesn't make you all of a sudden their friend either. A Krishna girl I worked with would never eat an animal but also would own one since their hair that falls off is considered dead cells and dead cells attract the dead. She kept her bathroom door closed at night because their brushes had their hair on them. I guess spirits attach to dead things in her religion. Even if she didnt' eat them she wasn't a caretaker of animal either.

You're obviously twisting my words around. I never said that they feel no pain, I didn't even hint at it, so why you would take what I said that way, I don't know.

I said very simply, I only eat meat that's raised for food. Meaning, I'm not going to go out and eat someones pet rabbit or cat. Like I said in my previous post, if I had a pet cow, maybe I would feel differently. But being raised in TX, with the typical cat & dog, and eating meat every day, that's just how I am.

People who have pets, people who love animals, shouldn't all these people be vegitarians?
Surely if you love Amimals you couldn't eat them?

I have pets, and I love animals. I am a vegetarian also. I think though, it is possable for one to love animals and have pets, but to eat meat. I do not see a problem with this, as long as they are thankful for their food. (Though, I also think we should be thankful for our food, if it is animal or plant!)

That's not true. Nowadays they inject female animals to become pregnant so they can produce more "meat" for humans to eat. Also the world wouldnt be overpopulated if we get the animals fixed;) like they do Cats and Dogs.

God gave us the animals to eat,If you live on a farm or ranch you try not to make pets out of those that may grace your dinner table someday. I think it is wrong for anyone to try to make people feel guilt for something God Himself ordained.

1 Timothy 4:1-3
4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

I think eating certain animals are ok. As long as you treat the animals with respect prior to them becoming your food. I dont think YHVH believes in inpregnanting an animal so the animal can reproduce for human consuption or injecting the animal with medication so humans can have enough protein. I am a Vegetarian because of the way animals are treated. If they were treated good by the factory farms, were not injected with medication and the female animals were not inpregnanted, and not mistreated in horrible ways I would then eat meat.

I agree with your view of injection of growth hormones, or antiobiotics and such practices,however if animals were not bred,they would have been all eaten up,very soon after creation,don't you think? They must be reproduced.

However I think "factory farms" are a pure inhumane SIN! I am quite sure that God never intended His creatures to be treated that way. Same as today's dairy farms,where the herd is kept inside all the time, or no more than a tiny paddock. It should be a law that a farmer must have adequate acreage to keep ANY livestock at all,and I mean enough acreage to rotate pastures as well. No chicken farms with thousands of chickens housed together either. It is unbelievable how cold-hearted,greedy and stupid mankind is! What we have done to farming and how we house our domestic animals.

God also says that you should kill 2 doves once a woman has finished her period, do you all do that too??

I just think that anybody who loves animals cannot eat them, especially if they knew how they were treated once alive.

And in reponse to the post that Animals eat Animals so its ok that we should, just have a look at Gorrilas, they have teeth just like ours, they have genes very simular to ours and yet they don't eat meat!!

Also just think if we are 'supposed' to eat meat, why is it so bad for us???

You are confusing Old and New Testament. Meat isn't bad for you. The stuff modern science puts in it is.

If God didn't want us to eat meat, He wouldn't have made us omnivores and we'd have no desire to eat meat. Yes, i understand that some people don't want to eat meat and that's cool too. I'm just saying most people like meat and have a desire to eat it

Who says we are omnivores?

I once heard this quote:-

"Put a todler in a box with a rabbit and an apple, if it eats the rabbit then we are meat eaters"

It has been proven that red meat causes cancer!
