  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Since we are discussing Catholic devotions, let's pose the question of the OP substituting the "Stations of the Cross" for the "Hail Mary." I have belonged to a parish that displayed the icons for the Stations during Lent. I like the Stations better than the Hail Mary, though I can personally say both. I prefer the Trisagion prayers to both of the other devotions.

In my parish we erect stations and pray through them communally during Lent, but the apocryphal scenes such as Veronica's Veil are omitted. In the old chapel we had displayed images of all fourteen traditional stations on the wall that I sometimes prayed at, but I don't know if anyone else said them.

There is also a version of the Stations of the Cross in Catholicism created by former Pope John Paul II as an ecumenical gesture toward Protestants that eliminates non-biblical scenes, but I'm not sure if that's the exact version we are using for communal devotions in Lent.

There are a couple of variations of that in common use: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scriptural_Way_of_the_Cross
