I was living in Krakow, and was a little overwhelmed, but through this time (though I wasn't yet "religious," but rather more "spiritual") I was starting to form an idea in my head that if you worked your best and tried your hardest, God would provide the last little needed thing to get you where you needed to be. One day, however, I'd gone up to Warsaw to do an interview for my dissertation. This was in the middle of a really stressful time work-wise, and then adding the mere stresses of living in Poland, and Warsaw was a place I liked to be but now it was time to get back and the whole train thing was a bit confusing. I bought my ticket, but couldn't figure out exactly where I was supposed to be. After getting on and asking people on a wrong train and a wrong platform, going up and asking the information desk (in Polish, they didn't speak English), I went back down to the right platform, and waited for the last half hour before my train was supposed to leave. Soon, a train was coming to the platform, and a woman came up to me and asked me (again in Polish) "Is this the train to Katowice?" "No, I think this is to Krakow." "No, that one is to Krakow." (She pointed to the other side of the platform) It was only a couple of minutes before my train did come, and I would have almost certainly missed it if she hadn't been there. I don't know that I thought it was an angel, but rather God orchestrating things just so, to help me get where I needed to go. I love things like that; they're so, so cool.
