The Lord took you,
Leaving me to sleep alone in the night
But I'll live my dear,
Wrapped in a blanket of life and light
Dreaming of past happy days,
Rather than joys departed
Even roses fade so I endured my time
As the broken-hearted.
Last Autumn, brown leaves fell
Like a shadow across my brow,
I caught a glimpse of you
Then as you are now,
A Spiritual lullaby
That we see in song
Each thing along
The Way righted from the wrong.
I think of this holy dreaming
Before my eyes
And hearing your angelic voice
Without even a hint of lies,
Though I grope to describe
These thoughts for every reader.
Memories of your hope-filled soul
Makes them keener.
Even until The Lord parts the sky
As a scroll in the night
No shadows shall creep
Into this dream of life and light
True life applauded
As my joys only seemingly departed.
We knew so much happiness
It was hard not to be broken-hearted.
A gift of God
A brilliance upon my brow
That death cannot destroy
Wraps my memories of you now
Even though I remain
And picture your travels and dreamer's song
As I walk along the path,
Seeing you this way can't be wrong.
For I follow the same
Father of Lights who brings
Faith and hope that I may walk
The same hopeful springs.
For some day along this road
Seen only dreamingly with aged eyes,
I'll say your name
With an angelic voice incapable of lies.
Leaving me to sleep alone in the night
But I'll live my dear,
Wrapped in a blanket of life and light
Dreaming of past happy days,
Rather than joys departed
Even roses fade so I endured my time
