Angelic appearances?

Has anyone here ever knowingly seen an angel?

I have. They have perfect features, at least when they're not disguised as a human being. They also vary in height. I've seen ones as short as 4 1/2 feet to ones as tall as 7-8 feet. Contrary to popular belief, they don't all have wings.

So when not disguised as humans...they look like humans, basically...or? If we are created in the image of God, what do they look like?

I mean, most all of God's creatures have two eyes, a nose, a mouth, two ears, 2 hands/2 feet (or four paws or two wings/two feet)...I don't know...I expect angels to at least have all of that. When people in the Bible said their eyes are like "fire" and skin like "burnished bronze", what does that mean?

Is it a shock to see them?...I mean like the people in the Bible seemed to be very afraid of them.

Could you be very descriptive? Are any female in appearance?

I know we each have an angel assigned to us but how often do you see them? Do they hang out with us without our knowledge or do they only come when we need help?

I've seen a few.

They all have very defined features.

One looked feminine and have blonde curly hair, no wings.

Two others were distinctly male, one looking Middle Eastern and the other Arian, both about 10 ft tall with wings.

The other I didnt see clearly.

I only once saw two angels, they were far and they were lighting the way for someone ... also, no wings, they were 'sexless' although I had a sense they were male. They were pure, white and shining... no distinct features .. almost floating shimmering lights in a form not like 'human'. I felt very blessed to see them - I think they were there to greet/escort the person.

I would say by "defined" that their looks are very pronounced, almost exotic supermodel-like....

The feminine looking one woke me up once....calling my name and was standing over my bed.

The two masculine ones were at a dance seminar (I posted about this in my blog).

You CAN NOT say what you claim you saw, was an angel as no one has stated how they went about confirming that they were actually angels. They could have been demons masquerading as angels.
One must test the spirits first, before one can tell of what origin they are, and since no one tested them you can not say if they were angels and I would be bold enough to go a step further and say since you did not test them it is highly likely they were demons.
Also this is a piont of interest which does nothing to build up ones faith but rather deflects attention away from the real issue which is your own personal journey in the lord.
pursuing such conversations only severs to waste valuble time, of which on this earth you only have a short amount....so use it wisely, and do not chase meaningless side issues.

And do you find that these modern day descriptions differ from the biblical descriptions? I've read Daniel. Angels are big and scary... I'd still like to hear people's stories.

We do need to test the spirits. But also look at creation to see how greatly creatures & the characteristics vary. Just looking at people I would say the Lord enjoys variety & diversity.
I've read a few accounts of people who have been transported into Heaven or have experienced death. & that is one thing I noticed from all of their testimonies...angels vary in size, shape & their jobs. Just like us God is awesome isn't He

What about their descriptions in this thread makes you say that they were demons?...because no one talked to them and asked them if they believe Jesus is Lord? One was from a distance and one was also at a short distance in a church service.

That is solely your personal opinion and I beg to differ as would others. You don't think that understanding of God's provision of angels is part of knowing and walking with the Lord?

So, God's angels are a waste of time and meaningless?

You do realize that the antichrist will soon also slander those who live in heaven too, right?

I have seen angels several times in my life, only once did I know they were angels at the time. That time I was allowed to see them in my spirit, the other times was physically and only afterward did I realize who they were

To my knowledge, I personally have never seen an angel but I know they're there.

There have been a couple of situations in my life that I thought the people who helped me were angels and I did ask because the circumstances were too perfect. But in those situations, God had used people to help...good, Godly people.

Stafy has a point that we should test to ensure that we are seeing the Lord's respresentation and not satan's manifestations ...but yes, I do believe our Lord has sent his angels to assist us in our daily lives.

Stafy has some valid points, but I don't agree with the context of it all. The posters have only mentioned seeing them, not interacting with them. So there is little or no basis in which to test them. Angels were created as ministers of God, so there's nothing wrong with talking about them. Jesus and the apostles did a lot of it. Like I said, Stafy did make some points, but I don't agree with the spirit in which it was said. God gives us discernment too, and we need to follow our conscience.

Most of the time I see angels, it's during Sunday service, and usually only in the form of a white outline, or silouette. The one our members see the most is the 7' tall one that always stands behind the pastor when he's at the podium. The one angel I did see with features happened during a Sunday service, standing at attention right in front of the podium with his hands down to his sides, and his body standing straight and pressing slightly forward with intent. He was facing the congregation and guarding the Word. He was approximately 5' 7" and had aryan features, sort of a cross between Christopher Reeve and Pierce Brosnan, except more handsome with perfect, well defined features. They usually have short hair too. I haven't heard of any angel seen with long hair.

Angels are neither male nor female, because there's no sex in the spirit. I've been told by others in my church who've both seen and spoke with angels that they share both male and female fascial features, and that its sometimes difficult to tell whether they're predominantly one or the other.

There are many different type of angels that have different roles. The one's with swords are warriors. angels will come if you call out to God for them.

They COULD have been, but generally you can sense in your spirit the difference, even if your eyes are being played upon.

However, I highly doubt they were demons, as it was later confirmed to me that others had seen those same two angels as well.

As for the other one I have seen, it WOKE me up and told me "Fear not, I am with you." and then was gone.

Just be sure the 'boldness' you operate in is Christ's and not your own. And not always testing does not automatically indicate they are demonic.

In the instance where I saw the 10 ft angels, it would have been distractive had I gone up on the platform and requested of them to prove if they were authentic embassaries of the Living God.

How is it a waste of time to share with one another ways that God has shown Himself to His people?

Actually, I think in one of the books of the Prophets, it distinctly mentions a FEMALE angel...I'll have to look it up.

Interesting discussion. We should keep our eyes on the Lord, but there's nothing wrong with discussing this topic.

In the Book of Acts, Phillip is led by an angelic being to go to the desert. This is because angels deal specifically with the physical, for example, situations dealing with location and/or personal safety. When Jesus needed physical strength on more than one occasion, angels attended Him.

But it was the Holy Spirit who led Phillip to speak to the eunich in the chariot about what he was reading from a scroll of Isaiah. This is because the Holy Spirit deals with important spiritual matters, i.e. a person's salvation.
