What does REPENTANCE mean to us and is it for the BODY of CHRIST or is it for ISRAEL ?

REPENTANCE / METANOEO is just like the GREEK for BAPTISM / BAPTISO as to what is meaning in every CONTEXT .

In Acts 2:38 , treads , and Peter declared to them ( verses 36 and 37 ) REPENT and let each of you be BAPTIZED in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the FORGIVENESS of SINS ,

In 2 Cor 7:10 reads For the sorrow according to God works out a REPENTANCE into the Joy of salvation not regretted of , but the sorrow of the world works out death .

I say that REPENTANCE is used for Israel ?

Ever notice that GENTILES do not a similar verse , Acts 2:38 for GENTILES ?

Your thoughts ?/

Repentance… is just a change of mind….The gentiles didn’t have to change their mind (per se) The Jews did…..from law to grace. And as you know from scripture…. going from law (works) to grace was not an easy thing for many of the Jews …. and it is still an underline practice today… within many religions.

Disagree.. all of humanity needs to change, to move from following our own will to following the will of God. It is even in the Lord's prayer. Religions of man like to circumvent that fact in order to protect their own authourity.

Repentance concerning being saved means to repent from rejecting Christ, change your mind, and accept Him.
God will deal with our sin(ning) for the rest of your life.

Peter told them to repent of their sin of rejecting the messiah (when they crucified Jesus) and instead be baptized in His name.

Acts 2:
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly,
that God hath made that same Jesus,
whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles,
Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God's will ahead of your own. Man's will creates sins of self interest and sets up roadblocks to connection with God whose views are opposite to self absorbed will.

Repentance is changing one's mind and it for anyone and everyone who decides that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is their Lord. From there, He makes His Home in the believer by giving us His Holy Spirit. Be blessed.

When ever we Greek words like FALLING AWAY , in 2 Thess 2:3 we have to be careful of its meaning .

REPENT can also be translated by the words A CHANGE OF DIRECTION , A CHANGE OF MIND , RECONSIDER , TO THINK DIFFERENTLY and that is why jump to conclusions .

Remember that in Gen 6:6 Christ had a CHANGE OF MIND called REPENTANCE .

Yes and in deciding Jesus is Lord we too will also put the will of the Father ahead of our own just as He did. Unless we share the same will it is impossible for the Father or Jesus to interact with us as we are adversaries pursuing our own will, little satans.

His Holy Spirit conforms us. This is His Promise to us so it is not impossible. Also, there is only one Satan so we are not "little satans", just tempted and deceived by him.
Be blessed.

Yes indeed, after we have made the decision our ways are no good and His ways are better.

BTW the definition of satan means adversary to the Hebrew people. Even Peter is called a satan for saying Jesus shouldn't have to die, thus protesting against God's will.

The will of man seek self fulfillment while the will of God say we should care for all others.

Peter was not filled with His Holy Spirit at that time.

True, none were until well after Jesus' death but even repentant man is subject to stumbling as God works change within us. Look what happened a few hundred years later. Progressive churches at one time in history took it upon themselves to reject the Kingdom and will of God and rejoin the world of man by marrying up with a government of man, Rome, which of course was the epitome of human will. With that power came dominance over the churches who did not follow resulting in their elimination until today that original truth is all but lost in the pulpit except for in scripture..

I agree… I was just lining up with the narrative in 2 Cor I should have qualified the statement on the Gentiles with more than a per se

But foundationally … it is a change of mind….. Although I Am not sure how that is associated with 2 Thes_2:3 …………….…I probably shouldn’t get into that.

It is just another Greek that many dispute what it really means .

Many says that it means FALLING AWAY / APOSTASIA , other say it means DEPARTURE , which I believe it means ..

Same word is found in Acts 21:21 .
