You know this forum could be interesting, fun, even educational. Sure, discuss conspiracy theories either pro or con. But there needs to be some balance backed by facts. Not proven fake photos etc. So I’ll start.

When humans first walked on the moon 50 years ago, they left footprints, a flag and for some, a trail of doubt. While most Earthlings celebrated humanity's great feat, a handful of holdouts just raised their eyebrows and whipped up some bizarre theories. The most famous of these conspiracy theories is that the moon landings were not real, but were staged by NASA.

Though the first moonwalker has died, these conspiracy theories — and others about the moon — live on. Here are some of the most famous moon conspiracies and myths, and here's why they make absolutely no sense.

Entire books, many videos, and thousands of hours of time have been wasted building this ‘conspiracy theory’, devoted to “debunking” the Apollo moon missions as some grand government conspiracy.

We have spent much digital ink debunking the claims of Flat Earthers (simply enter “Flat Earth” in the search tool at the top of this page or in the library search, also at the top of the page, to find all these articles). We’re not going to rehash that here.

I was in my early teens in 1969 and was on a road trip to Florida with my parents and brothers, specifically to watch the launch of Apollo 11, the first manned-mission to the lunar surface. We all witnessed the liftoff of the Saturn V launch vehicle and felt the earth shake under our feet as the 36-story tall vehicle slowly accelerated away from the launch pad into the pale-blue Florida sky. We all witnessed the launch. There was no fake – it happened.

So where did it go, if not to the moon?

And all sorts of things were left on the moon like rovers, and the reflectors that they fire lasers at to measure the moons distance from the Earth. I knew a guy into this conspiracy, but he retreated to a position of "the photography was faked, not the landing".

I just do not understand the huge investment people have in these conspiracy theories and how resistant they are to the facts that actually make sense.
