• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have been quite hesitent about this news since I was deeply upset to learn about the news. I came to find out not too long ago that I have been diagnosted with bipolar. I never felt so devistated in learning that I have it. Its like a a giant steel cross just landed right on me :sigh:.

It may be a scary diagnosis but it is not hopeless. It is just like any other chronic illness. You need a good doctor who will find the right medications and treatments to keep it under control. You need to learn the triggers of your mood swings to help you avoid or learn to cope with them. May I suggest you keep a journal? Right down your manic or depressive moods and what was going on when they happened. It will help you learn how often your moods cycle and help to pinpoint triggers. Hope this helps!

Praying for you. I also went through the shock. My diagnosis was changed from depresion to bp 2. After shock i tried denial for awhile, but over time I ahve come to see that God created me and loves me just as I am and that He can use this illness to bring glory to His name. He continues to us me in different ministries, sometimes I still make mistakes coz my illness doesn't absolve me of responsibility for my actions, but it is very treatable!!! Rest in the knowledge that you are loved and as you come to terms with this, seek out those who can help you, a doctor a counselor and frineds you can trust, forums like here, but most of all the arms of God who loves you beyond your understanding!!!

Blessings and prayers!
