  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A sound mind overcomes all doubting.
Matthew 21:
21
So Jesus answered and said to them, Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.
22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

The apostle Paul assigns this to the most mundane daily activity, that of eating. In other words, in our walk with the Spirit, there is no mundane activity.
Romans 14:
22
Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.
23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

A wavering mind is an unstable soul
James 1
:
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

1 Kings 18:21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him. But the people answered him not a word.

Doublemindedness is a great shortcoming according to scripture.
James 4:8
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

The list is huge on a word search.

The inner dialogue [G1260, 1261] is debilitating and must be dealt with purposefully.
Mark 2:8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived
in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Purposefully from scripture what I have found is to think from the aspect of whatsoevers (beautiful, of good report, etc) then to act from the fruit of the Spirit (love, kindness, gentleness etc) to form a framework but I really like that scripture from 2 Corinthians 10:5 too. It captures the intention of what He wants from us well. I'm still working on this all the time.
