Hi;
Call me naive, childish, or a fool, Call me a fundamentalist or a Biblical Literalist, whatever, but I was wondering if there is anyone else like me here. I’m a little bit upset about the ecumenical spirit of the forums quenching the truth and the spirit of God. So many folks in these forums dismiss the beginning, the end and much of the middle of God’s inspired Word. I’m not old or old fashioned, I’m not a dumb young kid. But I was just wondering where the Bible believing Born Again Christians are. Forum after forum I find a lukewarm and compromising body of believers.

Can I get an AMEN?

Welcome tov,

The same thing has happened to me. I came here for fellowship and found lukewarm Christians who cannot be differentiated from the atheists except for saying Jesus occasionally. Hopefully this will change as more posters come on board, but fundies burn out with some regularity.

God bless you and AMEN!

Dear newlamb & Terri;
I want to thank you for your comments, “People who won't put ecumenicalism before truth ususally don't stay very long” and, “The same thing has happened to me. I came here for fellowship and found lukewarm Christians... fundies burn out with some regularity.”

I have only been in the Forums for a month. These three
christianforum / forum.crosswalk.com / botcw.com/talk
have nearly burnt me out. But thanks to you two

Hi there!

Count me in.... fundamentalist, dispensationalist, premillennialist, nondenominationalist.

You can usually find people like yourself, they are really easy to spot.... they have their reputation disabled.

I find the OP a little offensive, because this whole forum isn't liberal. There are quite a few (thousands +) of conservative Christians that post here. Yes there are open forums where unbelievers and atheists can challenge our faith, and we can do Apologetics and sharpen our skills in the Word, but this isn't a liberal haven. You can get more flies with honey than with vinegar as the saying goes. If you don't like open forums, there are plenty of forums here to post at. If you can't handle that there are exclusive type boards out there, geared towards fundies only, or even Baptists only.

I would rather be part of the solution than part of the problem, that is why I became a moderator. As I like to remind those who complain about some of the forums there is a report button and if you see rule violations, feel free, and even please report them. I can't guarantee that we mods will agree with your opinion, but can guarantee that your report will be looked into.

I am a bible believing staunch defender of doctrinal purity. BUT, that's within my local church, And, this is not a local church.

It took me some time to understand "forums" in general. I knew who I was, but frequently forgot "where" I was (If that makes any sense). For example; apart from forums I had never gone into an (you name the denomination) Church and shouted. "You people are a bunch of Heretics"! So, here I was, on a forum where people could not see me, and I could easily now do what I would never have dreamed of doing outside of internet forums. See what I mean?

We have folks on here that are somehow self convinced that if they don't stand up and shout doctrinal purity in their understanding of it, they are being untrue to the Gospel of Christ. Really? Do folks do that outside of internet forums? I Don't think so.

Then, I discovered two important things. One is the great purpose of unity (Where is my common ground with my Christian brothers and sisters) And, I discovered that I can have fellowship with anyone that calls Jesus lord and holds a few common beliefs such as the Nicene Creed.

So, I dusted off my view of doctrinal purity, finely tuned my bible knowledge, prayed for opportunities to use it for God good purposes, while not offending my Brothers and Sisters who hold different views. Those times did come and still do.

The forums purpose is unity. We have mods from every flavor of Gods kingdom. The growth opportunity is huge but it takes time to understand and fully realize the potential of forums like Christian Forums.

Here is my bible advise for today. The bible is called a two edge sword, it cuts others and you. When you are in mixed company cover the edge that cuts others, and sharpen the side that cuts you.

I hope you enjoy Christian Forums. Give it a chance, it will take some time to understand it.

IKing 19:1-21
CHAPTER 19
1 Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."
3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers."
5 He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, "Arise, eat."
6 Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake {baked on} hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again.
7 The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, "Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you."
8 So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.
9 Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD {came} to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
10 He said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
11 So He said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before the LORD." And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; {but} the LORD {was} not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, {but} the LORD {was} not in the earthquake.
12 After the earthquake a fire, {but} the LORD {was} not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.
13 When Elijah heard {it} he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice {came} to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
14 Then he said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
15 The LORD said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram;
16 and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.
17 "It shall come about, the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.
18 "Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him."
19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, while he was plowing with twelve pairs {of oxen} before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed over to him and threw his mantle on him.
20 He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, "Please let me kiss my father and my mother, then I will follow you." And he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?"
21 So he returned from following him, and took the pair of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the implements of the oxen, and gave {it} to the people and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah and ministered to him.

Do people really believe that the reformation happened for no reason--that all of those people died for nothing.

If they would have just agreed to unity they could have lived? :(

God IS truth. Unity without truth is only a lie. Denying God by denying the truth is never a good thing. Yes, and some understand this so well, they are willing to give their lives for it.

Hi Tov:wave:

I’m a little bit upset about the ecumenical spirit of the forums quenching the truth and the spirit of God.
I don't quite understand - are you upset about the ecumenical spirit?
Or are you upset by your perception of 'quenching the truth and spirit of God?'

This is an inherent problem with Protestantism, and especially the Reformed churches. When they attempt to interpret scripture, they inevitably differ, and pick and choose the parts which they wish to emphasize or ignore. Look at it logically - how can 33,000 different Protestant denominations all believe themselves to be correct? Clearly, they cannot all be correct.

You speak not of the true 'truth and spirit of God' but of your personal perception - in such a situation, you will never find that everyone agrees with you.

This forum has a beautiful ethos. Those of us who disagree, can discuss, contradict, advise... some of us even glean an education from the opinions and knowledge of others!

Can I get an AMEN?
No, but you can get a 'God Bless':prayer:

Yet another person to come into The Protestant/Reformed/Evangelical Forum to mock our beliefs.

I hope you feel better. :)

And yes they all can be correct if they have the true gospel, for that is what ties us together--not the disputable things that are a personal choice. It's the true gospel that binds people together or the lack there of that seperates them.

I'm sorry you perceived this. It is not my intention at all.

I hope you feel better.
 No, I feel worse because you've just wrongly accused me of mocking your beliefs.

God wants his followers to be united. If you speak the truth, it should not be difficult for all 33,000 Protestant denominations to unite, to become one church!

Peace be with you

I see you don't understand. We are united. Anyone that has the true gospel is my brother and sister in Christ. It is the gospel. Let me repeat. It is the gospel that binds us together--all of the other stuff is insignificant.

Any member of any church that knows that Jesus paid for ALL of our sins--that we can do nothing to pay for any of them--that Jesus did it all--that His sacrifice was totally sufficient to save us without any effort on our part has the true gospel and we are united in the one body of the church with Christ as our head.
